Adidas ClimaCool Feather II Men's

I'm interested in purchasing the above sneakers & would like some comparison to the original Feathers (non-Climacool). I wore the original Feathers in the past & one year they were a bulky, heavy duty shoe, very tight fitting (& I don't have a wide foot), & the next version they were very 'low budget' for lack of a better term, & also very narrow. Can anyone shed some light on the new Feather IIs?

Climacool feathers, in my opinion, are some of the best shoes I've worn. I had the last red Roland Garros versions.

Thanks for the initial response. Doesn't help me much aside from a brief opinion, but maybe they're better then the original Feathers (non-ClimaCool).

I guess I can't give you feedback on the newest ones, but I have a pair of last year's model and I find them very lightweight and comfortable. Yes, they are narrow-fitting shoes and from what I understand the new ones are also narrow-fitting. If I had to guess I would say that if you didn't like the old ones (last season's Climacool version) you might not like the newer ones. As for myself, I'll probably get a pair eventually; the red ones look sweet!

Thanks KFwinds, I appreciate your feedback. By saying they are lightweight & narrow-fitting, I know they aren't the sneakers for me. I have a narrow to average width foot & I can't wear Feathers comfortably, so there's no way I'd fit in the new ones. Do you wear your regular size in Feathers?
I do agree though, the red ones look terrific & this was the pair I was going to get from Adidas.

i hoarded some Feather 1's because i liked them...ran out so went to the ClimaFeathers and didnt like them in comparison and found them chesy and they quickly lost their shape..now am wearing the new Feather2 and think that is an awesome shoe for the clay..it's an improved Feather1 imo...a bit lighter and really molds to your foot and you feel a bit lower to the ground...i can recommend this shoe to someone who liked the oroginal feathers (the basic white w. 3 black stripes one)....

Yes! NoBadMojo your information was very helpful, exactly what I was looking for! I did like the original black/white Feathers moreso then the ClimaFeathers. You've just sold me on the new ones!

i think you'll like them...they fit like gloves..i picked up 3 pairs because who knows when they will be discontinued....and it's hard to find shoes that fit really well and that you like the looks of....never liked the barricades..clunky and narrow in the heel and expensive, and other than the one model, not really for the dirt

Thanks again NoBadMojo. I too was never a fan of the Barricades & now that I've joined a red clay club from now until Nov, they'll be put to better use. Question though, how are the on hardcourts?

NBMJ,
Are you referring to the Barricade II's or the Barricade III's that you don't like or both? Because TW sells the BII's for $79.99 which is the same price as the ClimaCool Feather II's, so not really any more expensive. I've been thinking of the BII's since so many people seem to love them. Thanks.

tennisnj i think you would find that you would blow right through these shoes on a hardcourt altho i think they say they are for all surfaces...they have a much softer feeling sole <to me>

Just got a pair of Clima FeathersII this week from TW after playing with all the previous models before...and this is by far the best...I agree with Mojo on all counts but would add that the grip on clay is fantastic and better than previous feathers before.

So I'll get a couple more pairs right away...

TennisNJ, I would get the new shoe. The original was not all foot types, bulky, and not very ergonomic in action. The new shoe is all foot types and one of the very lightest, surpassed by the NB 820. Traction on soft court is excellent. At first I wasn't sure I liked the foot strike of the shoe(from back to front it looks/is a little curved but with a few wears the shoe has really grown on me. Biggest downside is that the mesh is going to get really, really, really, dirty from the red clay.
