Agassi's chances of winning the U.S open are still not neccessarily stellar, but might be improving as we go. Both Roddick and Nadal are now gone, particularly if he survives Berydch today. There are still alot of dangerous players in this half, but none of them have been in the pressure situation of a huge slam match, except maybe Tommy Haas who was in a single slam semi, but he does not seem to be one the potential challengers for a final spot in his current form. All in all Agassi should be the clear favorite now to reach the final, even if he still has some dangerous obstacles still to come before then.
If he were to reach the final, and he were to not play Federer, he would have a chance I think. Hewitt would be a tough victory for him, but he has two wins over Hewitt
on hard courts since 2002. Perhaps Nalbandian or Gonzalez might be a dark horse to reach the final, Agassi would have a good chance vs either obviously, neither are a pushover, but Agassi's chances would be good vs either. I really dont think he has any chance at all vs Federer, Federer is too strong from the baseline, moves too well, serves to well, and is too versatile for the current Agassi, he tested him at last years U.S open but Roger has had his way with him since. So if he plays Roger in the final it is all over IMO, and will probably a comfortable straight set win for Roger. However in the unlikely event Roger is upset somewhere before the final, there could be a miracelous late career triumph for Agassi at this years U.S open.
