You are just making excuses for every player Nadal faces. It's either

"had a hard semifinal", (Nadal AO2009 says hello, had a hard semi, won final in 5 against HC GOAT)

"was tired" (Not Nadals fault Djokovic needs five sets to win his semis on his best surface),

"was his first slam final" (probably the most ridiculous point, first slam final doesn't mean someone will play badly, Federer and Djokovic won multiple slams against first time finalists)

For starters, no one called Millman and Chung tough opponents.

Cilic in 2019 is a shadow of his early to mid 2018 self.

I also don't think Chung and Millman are tough opponents. It's just funny that Nadal gets constantly called out for his "easy draws" when every other slam winner has easy draws as well that don't get called out. USO 17/19 gets mentioned a lot but where is AO 18 or USO18? Nadal won 3 hardcourt slams beating the Hardcourt-GOATS in the final. He won Wimby beating the GrassGOAT in his prime.

I think Wimbledon is the safest bet for Novak bc no one seems to know how to play on grass besides him and Federer.

I think so too. He is likely to be more successful there in the longer term. Nadal has always been a wildcard at Wimbledon, but he is dangerous too if he survives a big server in the initial weeks.

Really sad for Thiem. But he had chances in second set - missed easy shot on BP. Medvedev surely mentally toughest of young players. He could have lost both semis amd finals in straights but somehow pulled it off. Full credit to him. He looks better player if you consider match stats.

Actually many expected Medvedev to have breakthrough in SLAMS and replace Djokovic for #1 in 2020 itself. Why he failed this season is surprising.

No time wasting with line calls / Hawkeye either, or pushing the 25 sec limit with these two.
Long rallies and some amazing play.

My heart prediction (Med) won over head (Thiem).

Medvedev is good at volleying agreed. But his record at Wimbledon is poor which cannot be denied and given his 6'6 height , I doubt whether he will be able to adjust to the low bounce on grass.

He made a ton of errors off those in the first two sets, which is maybe why Rafa kept using them long after they stopped being effective.
