Best groundstrokes on the tour

Nadal, Djokovic, or Del Potro.

For women Clijsters by a bit I think. She just doesnt have the serving, mental toughness, or net game that all of Henin, Venus, and Serena have and those 3 are almost as strong off the ground so most times come out ahead overall.

Davydenko's groundstrokes will be outclassed by the big guns when they are in top form, not tired and drained like the end of last year.

Motivated and fit Nalbandian dosent have competition.
Djokovic is also great.. i dont understand people, who are putting murray to this list..his groundstrokes are just soooo slow and defensive..

top 3: 1. Nalbandian, 2. Djokovic, 3. JMDP ???/Davy ?/ Söd?

Yeah, and now try to combine FH and BH..

Federer's forehand is better than Nalbandian's by even more than Nalbandian's backhand is better than Federer's if both are playing their best or average game on a neutral surface(not Nalbandian's best vs Federer's average like his 2 late 2007 and 1 late 2005 wins on Nalbandian's best surface by far). Djokovic's forehand and backhand combined easily take Nalbandian, their backhands are almost equal and the forehand is Djokovic easily. Safin same thing, way better forehand, actually in his case just as good if not better a backhand too. Nadal's forehand is better than Nalbandian's by more than the backhand difference if we are talking normal or top Nadal vs normal or top Nalbandian on a neutral surface. Del Potro easily has better combined groundstrokes than Nalbandian too.

Oh, so the Nalbys FH is as crap as it gets ? Cmon men, he has a very good forehand... Djokovic's FH better than Nalbys ?=Joke right.. ?

Nalbandian has a very good forehand, but it isnt even close to the very best ones. And yes Djokovic has a better forehand than Nalbandian easily, I am not sure what you see. By the way did you know Djokovic bageled and breadsticked Nalbandian the last time they played. Or was that due to Djokovic's scintillating serve and volley game, LOL! Well it was on grass where Nalbandian is crap anyway, but the best groundstroker in the game wouldnt have his strokes be basically useless on any one surface.

Nalbys problem is in his head.. mentally he is one of the weakest in top 100. So why is Nalbandian considered on of the biggest talent of the decade ? He has crappy serve so in your opinion Nalbandian is a huge talent only because of his backhand.

Nalbandian does not have a crappy serve. He has a very good first serve. Nalbandian is not one of the few biggest talents of this decade and anyone who says he is is overrating him in the first place. He is a very good all around player who was a slight (not nearly as much as some say) underachiever. He has an oustanding backhand which is one of the best, a quite good but not exceptional forehand, reasonably good movement and defense, a very good first serve and mediocre second serve, decent volleys, and is a pretty smart player. That is basically what he is. It amounts to a very talented player who can produce solid results, and once in awhile can pull off big upsets. It does not amount to the best overall grounstroker in the game, nor one of the few greatest talents of the decade.

Exacting analysis, completely agree. Nalbandian is a very clean ball striker. When I saw him play live on court 2 at Indian Wells, it was the sound of his ball striking that impressed me the most.

None above prime Safin and prime Nalbandian

Well. I would say Nalbandian and Safin on both wings. Rafa, Federer and Sampras has had the three best forehands imo throughout the 90´s and the 00´s. While the best backhands belongs to Wawrinka, Safin, Nalbandian and Kafelnikov, Djokovic f.eks. Safin had monster serve to help him aswell, and hit way harder than Nalbandian mostly. If we take the Roddick match at USO 03. Nalbandian dominated because he could block Roddicks serve back and then dictate with his far superior groundgame when at best, as he pretty much was the first three sets. Safin as Roddick had the serve advantage, but Safin also had a far superior groundgame to Roddick on both wings. Safin could overpower Nalbandian, Nalbandian had a lot of pace in his strokes, but he could get beaten by a powerhouse like Safin, just like Federer has, Nalbandian on the other hand, has better groundstrokes on both wings than Fed. Fed has a good onehander, he can do a lot of different stuff with it. Nalbandian for me was the ultimate ballstriker and all around player. He could hit any shot just as well as Fed i think apart from the serve and maybe the forehand and the slice. Remind you, when Nalbandian was on there wasn´t really a shot that wasn´t inch perfect and textbook, his forehand was imo almost as good as his backhand! He had more forehand Winners than Roddick as far as i know in that match. I can´t praise that Guys game enough, he was not a good frontrunner, but man, when playing his best, he was a monster.
