Best Tension holding Poly?

other than LUX 4G, any other cheaper alternatives?

i play with a powerful racket and need a good poly that doesn't lose tension quickly.

i used Yonex poly tour Pro and Poly tour Spin, both are really great in terms of playability but not like LUX ALU power or 4G in tension maintenance.

appreciate the assistance.

I have been using 17g Wilson Rip Spin for about 2 months now and its maintenance is very good. Consistent feedback through its entire life for me.

Solinco Tour Bite 16L, loses 12.6 lbs
Gamma Zo Verve 17 loses 12.6 lbs
Kirschbaum Pro Line X loses around 13 lbs

My experience is Tecnifibre Poly's and Signum Pro poly's do well. But, still with any poly they are great for the first 5 hours, OK for the next 5 hours, and then mediocre for the next 5 hours.

Can anybody reconcile the fact that Lux 4G is supposed to be best in tension maintenance (so says Wilson as well) - but then Wilson Ripspin has better tension and playability maintenance ratings in the TW reviews?

According to TW's String Performance Database, Wilson Ripspin loses (on average) 18 to 22.3 lbs of tension. That's significantly more than 4G, which loses on average 11 lbs.

Cyberflash has always served me well. SPPP I have tried as well. Compared to the Cyberflash, SPPP was a little more comfortable, a little more powerful and has little bit more of a performance drop off after the first couple of hitting sessions.

Its true that SPPP lasts ages (for a poly). My experience is that its an average, so-so string. It feels muted, stiffness is about average for a co-poly.

Its definitely worth a try if tension loss is your main concern, a lot of people love the string.

Another for 4g. I play 6 times a week and have kept 4g in for over a month without any major issues.

SPPP does hold tension well but I like the performance of Ripspin a lot more. It is worth the extra $1.00.

Probably not cheaper but flex infinity string surpasses 4G in my book. Used them both side by side. Don't have any data.... Just my opinion.

Thoroughly prestretching any poly (and then dropping the reference tension to compensate) will make it hold tension much better than even the best tension-holding unprestretched poly's.
