The slow surfaces hurt Federer and the small frame for 15 years of his career. He still won despite being at a huge disadvantage compared to his rivals.

Slow surfaces hurt Federer??? He built his career off slow surfaces.. What was his records prior to 2002??

So we're good as long as courts speed favor Federer?

Federer was doing just fine on fastish (and low bouncing) surfaces. I can think of a couple of players that didn't do well at all on them.

Doing fine exactly how? All his big titles were on clay.. And he only became dominant once the courts speed slowed to perfection to match his game

Nadal had the skill to win a lot more consecutive events than Federer/Djokovic, but was restricted by injury-
Nadal missed 2003 French Open.
Nadal missed 2004 French Open.
Nadal missed 2009 Wimbledon (defending champ).
Nadal retired QF 2010 Australian Open (defending champ).
Nadal missed 2012 Olympics (defending champ).
Nadal missed 2012 US Open.
Nadal missed 2013 Australian Open.
Nadal missed 2014 US Open (defending champ).
Nadal retired R3 2016 French Open.
Nadal retired QF 2018 Australian Open.
Nadal retired SF 2018 US Open (defending champ).

He served and volleyed extensively to win 2003 Wimb. Beat Pete by coming to the net frequently. He is not a slow court player to the same extent as Djokodal.
Obviously not but to say that only djokodal benefitted from courts being slowed is a misnomer.. The slowed courts are what made Fed what he is, lightening fast courts and it was hasta la vista Fed 2009

Also the clay looks a lot slower in the 1990s.

Consecutive Slam titles won by beating Big3:

Djokovic WI11-AO12 --> 3
Djokovic WI15-AO16 --> 3
Federer WI07-UO07 --> 2
Nadal RG08-WI08 --> 2

Djokovic clearly has the highest peak across all surfaces.

Why don't you, for a change, show us Federer's records prior to 2002? In there lies all the proofs!

There is no "proof" in Federer's records "prior to 2002".

If you claim that 2002 was special in any way, you should be able to support your claim with proof about it. Otherwise it is just the time when Federer got it together as a complete package. He was 21 at the time. Hardly an age considered abnormal for such a thing.

2001 is generally regarded as the time when courts were slowed down.. Wimbledon changed to rye grass after that ivanisevic final.. IMO, he started becoming the powerhouse he is after the courts were slowed down to match his game, he is as much a beneficiary as Djokodal in this regard.. That's my point, djokodal might feast on slower courts but Federer built his career after courts were slowed down too

Please show proof of the bolded.

When were the courts at Wimbledon changed, again?

Fed was supposed to win slams as a teenager to prove himself? roflmao
Federer was supposed to be winning slams in his teenage, all ATGs were.. Borg, Becker, Nadal etc etc.. That he couldn't is proof enough that lightening fast courts were his nemesis..slowing down the courts helped him achieve greatness

While there's no doubt he is a quality player and deserves all the accolades, let's not pretend that he would have cleaned the field had the courts not slowed down to perfection to match his game (especially with regards to what he was doing circa 1998-2002)

Laver, Connors, Lendl. lulzworthy argument!

Luzworthy reply for the man purported to be the GOAT (no arguments there, obviously along with Nadal and djokovic as the trio) and amongst the best, all big titles and deep runs prior to 2003 Wimbledon were on clay!

Federer was an all-surface player from the outset. He did reach QFs at both WB and RG in 2001 and played better at WB (ousted a somewhat sluggish but still tough Sampras and lost a close match to Henman he really should have won but choked once again, story of his career ha) then RG (fairly one-sided loss to Corretja). Had the tools to be good everywhere.

He reached the QF of 2001 Wimb. Lost in the 1st round of the FO 2 years in a row before 2003 Wimb, but nice try.
