hi there,

i bought a tennis stringing machine the other day, the guy at the shop threw in a couple of reels of string, one 1.3m and the other 1.2m

After closer inspection (after i strung my racket!) i realised that the 1.2m string is Head SQuash strings. How will this play? Should i call the guy back and tell him?

thanks

Haha. Tell the guy. Squash strings really don't last long. But interestingly, tennis strings are fine in squash racquets.

BAsically it is Marketing - differences being that of squash string being thinner, (or at the range of thin for tennis string) and the big difference is only in the length - you typically need much less for squash then tennis - it is the same string, (when all other perameters are the same) just shorter.

If it fits in your tennis frame...you are just fine!

Trust me...I know

Squash strings are most often 17-19g, so depending on your desired string it may be thinner than you'd like. It also usually requires less than 30 feet of string per racquet - if it is in a single pack, you could probably only get the mains or crosses done. If it's in a reel and with strings gauge you like, it should work. Technifiber 305 and X-one Biphase are very popular squash strings, and I believe they are the same actual string as for tennis.

Ha ha - yes. Not sure why it showed up in some of my browsing today.
I've had that happen to my browsing as well. I clicked on a couple and it was from years ago. I think it may be I clicked on the threads at the bottom of the page and it brings up older " similar" threads, or so it says.

Yeah, that must be it. But if ANYONE wants my advice, it is valid to use squash strings on a reel in the place of high gauge tennis strings! ;)
