Listen up guys, I really need your help. I've out for a while due to a basketball injury and unfortunately taking two months off has killed my game.
Here's a video of my groundies four days back into the flow, my serve is great!, my forehand is okay.. and my backhand is just terrible, my slices look awkward and I used to have a 1hb but im trying to switch to 2hbh cause I made to many UE's.
With that said, I'm just looking for all the advice I can get, my tennis season is starting in 2 weeks, and this is my last year; I desperately want to win conference!

Here I am on Vimeo:

And download me filefront:

Thanks ahead!

Things I see on my own -
~My FH backswing looks awkward, I dont think it should go out to the side behind my body.
~Racquet face doesnt close during backswing.
-Follow through looks low?

BTW the reason I have transitions is because my ball machine goes ballistic sometimes :(

All racquets were sent back, and no I purchased that racquet before the whole situation even took place.

ignoring the racquet thing etc.., ill try to chip in some advice from my little knowledge of tennis :p
Your forehand looks a little awkward, looks like you are hitting it too close to your body most of the times and on your backhand slices, it looks like you are just patty caking it over

That shouldn't mean that you're forgiven-by/accepted-back-into the forum. You stole rackets and continously lied to cover your tracks (keep in mind not very well).

Listen im not going to explain everything, but if you knew what I knew your opinion would change. Don't get me wrong I did some stuff I shouldn't have. Maybe people like you should stop trying to play god, hey at least I know I sin. :???:

I think that had a lot to do with the camera angle, some were long but most landed deep. Im looking for advice on technique here, not a summary of what happened.

Try to set up and prep earlier. Those are slow balls moving to you.
Need to set up and turn shoulders for your shots, especially backhands. The slice is normally a OK shot, but your pattycake invites attacking by the opposition. Earlier, longer, takeback, step in and really slice it like you mean it.
Or hit your top two hander, which you avoid at all costs.
Looks like you spray a lotta shots, so just hit more and practice more.

Alright thanks, yah I have a natural ohbh but im trying to learn 2hbh because thats seems to be "modern". I know a lot of shots looked long but they werent.
LOL and I will hit my slices like I mean for now on!

Yeah, best way to control height of the ball is to have consistent posture, so you don't lean back or forwards, while you strike the ball. That, YOU can control.
Depth is harder to control, of course.
I'd hit out a little more, and more often, on your two hander. If it goes long mostly, and still low over the net (like 3'), apply more topspin. Need longer and faster stroke.

2 things I noticed:

For forehand and backhand, your racket is ABOVE the ball when hitting it. Something I learned from my coach is keep your racket below the ball at all times, but finish above the ball. In other words, start with your racket under the net and finish over the net. This will improve consistency as you'll get more topspin and its just a simpler stroke. You have alot of unnecessary movements that you don't need. Just start under the ball and finish above the net, easy as that.

And your swinging too much for your backhand slice. I did this too, so its no big deal. Very common mistake. Keep your wrist firm and step into the ball a little more for more pace/consistency.

Good luck

yah earlier before my basketball season I played a 4.0 player in texas and beat him, this is only my second practice in the last two months so give me a break. Im happy with where I stand for playing less than a year, ill just take the vid down then since I can't get any help here.

okay no way he's a 4.0 lmao. Nooooo way. Where in the world did he get that from? And hard hitting? It's cool hes trying to improve but that's just not 4.0 quality.

He has to be realistic in where his abilities are if he wants to improve. I think a high 2.5-3.0 is accurate? Correct me if I'm wrong though

I serve 90MPH and my groundstrokes are just bad because I havnt practiced in two months, also the angle. Also i've beaten someone on this board who was rated strong 4.0/4.5 by a pro.

Keep lying scammer Trevor.

First off, you don't serve 90 mph, in fact, YOU USE A WESTERN GRIP ON YOUR SERVE.

Second, this 4.0/4.5 you are referring to I am guessing is Soggy? And apparently he owns you every time so don't even go there.

Stop making excuses in your video because you don't live up to all the talk you do.

look, my serve is around 95 (I have vids, and this is what people have estimated), and I'm still a 3.5. Also beating a 4.5 doesnt mean you are a 4.5. However, your strokes don't look good enough to even get a game of a true 4.5. Your technique just isnt there to beat the better players.

Its not bad to be a 2.5-3.0. You shouldn't be ashamed, it should just make you practice harder. You wont get anywhere if you overestimate your playing ability. I'm not trying to put you down but to help you. You have to accept the level of where your at to get better.

Also, it would be pretty stupid to take the vid down. There's alot to learn from these boards. I learned everything I know about tennis from here and my game has improved LOADS from people's help. I would keep posting vids if I were you, you would benefit alot. I'm posting like 1-2 vids a week, and I'm telling you the feedback you get from the vids really helps

Your call though of what you wanna do. Its your game its affecting not mine

edit-fluffy is right about the excuses too. Just say "that's me, that's how I play, how can I get help". Not "i'm a 4.5 but I havent practiced so I suck"

Found the info, you are a liar.

you've never taken a real set past 6-3 against me, let alone win a set. Every match i've beaten you was 6-3, 6-2 or 6-2, 6-3. Even that best of five set we played was 6-2, 6-3, 6-2.

i dont know why he lies and why its hard to just say im a 2.5-3.0. You dont see me saying im a 5.5 but I havent practiced so I suck.........or anyone else for that matter (except the 14 year olds who think they really are 5.5's lol)

I'm telling you, the technique/talent is not there to even get CLOSE to beating a 4.5

you've beaten a 4.0 you say?
1. try to beat him again
2. get rated by a pro, i don't think he'll say you're 4.0

The thing is he hasn't beaten a 4.0. He's taken one set of which only occurred when they played in the RAIN on WET COURTS! Funny how that's all he has and keeps using that to his defense.

I think I'll find Nadal and challenge him on icey courts now and brag how I won a game =P

I looked at your strokes. Tnue91 would have a hard time even at 3.0. Your strokes are too inconsistent and I doubt the 4.0 player you played was even a 4.0 maybe 2.5.

Donno what's going on here but the fact the op deleted all his vids makes this thread pointless.

I vote to lock this thread.

Trevor, ask your mommy to take you to the psychiatrist. You are displaying many signs of Narcissistic and/or Borderline Personality Disorder. The thievery without remorse, the compulsive lying; classic symptoms.

Don't worry about your tennis game so much. You have bigger problems.

Besides, you'll have plenty of time to work on your tennis game in prison.

I don't know if he'll go to prison, he thinks he can make it to D1 college tennis LOL.

as for those who didn't see the video, out of about 50 balls, he hit maybe 2 in the sweetspot lol, the rest all looked like shanks (this is all on the forehand side). As for the backhand, he looks like he has the strength of a baby on that side because he almost can't even swing the racquet on that side yet he plans to play d1. Apparently he's supposed to be awesome at basketball but thinks he can't make it to college ball, so he switched to tennis (apparently he thinks tennis is easy to pick up), apparently it's harder than it looks.

2/50 is about D1 level imo. Tennis is about the easiest sport to pick up as well. I heard if you guy a babolat racket from someone and dont pay for it, you get better five times as quickly. Hes obviously purposely not eating to have no strength; everyone knows that muscle is bad for tennis.
