Davedenko might be the favorite now to win Australia

Davy's playing so well lately, it's easier than ever to think he might just have it in him to take a GS. Right now, the momentum is with him, let's face it, and the AO surface for him is a very good thing. But, unlike Davy, Nadal and Federer KNOW they can win these things and KNOW they can last the full 5 if things go awry early in the final match. I don't believe either one can be discounted yet, thus their experience as winners in difficult, protracted GS events gives them an edge. They're also fighters to the bitter end and both are extremely motivated this year to prove they're not deadwood yet. So I'm not quite convinced Davy can do it in the AO.

Del Potro's another potential problem for Davy (and Nadal and Fed), and perhaps Djokovic, if he keeps his emotions in check on-court. I don't know WHAT to think of Murray! :)

This guy is on fire now, it might be his time. He has clearly raised his game to a new higher level and the best players in the world cannot deal with it, as proven in Shanghai and Doha this week. Federer and Nadal have been stymied. Davydenko might be entering into his pinnacle now, where he will dominate the ATP for a short time. I know a lot of people don't think he can do it at a slam over two weeks and five sets, but these same people never expected Davydenko to be doing what he's doing right now. We'll see.

And the favorite is...Roger Federer...budump bump. Federer is +200. Nadal and Del Potro are +400. The Djoker is +500.

Your guy is +800. Way too high if you ask me. Roddick is +2500 and a way, way better player at majors, if you ask me.

I don't think he can be fairly called "the favorite" having never so much as been to a Slam final in his long career, but certainly I can hardly say with confidence that he cannot or will not pull it off after everything he's shown in the last few months.

Davydenko is nearly 29, asthmatic, 5'8", who said "I would have won a slam long ago if they were best of 3". Enough said.

It would be nice to see Davy win but sadly I don't think it will happen. Davydenko would have whale of time pulling of the Fed Nadal double take down in a slam.

I don't think Davey would have been Rafito if that Doha final was best of 5. What is Rafito's record in slam matches where he wins the 1st set? Undefeated I think.

Really? Undefeated? That would be really good if that's true.

Actually I looked it up. Rafa lost to David Ferrer at the 2007 US Open 7-6 4-6 6-7 2-6

i like davy and he's obviously playing very well these days . . . but i'm not sure he's been a favorite to win any tournament he's ever entered.

having said that, i hope he does well.

He's so unlikely as a winner. I can't really believe that he is number 6 tennis player in the world. He just doesn't look like an athlete. For that matter, neither does Federer.

When has a guy ever won his first slam at Davydenko's age? If it hasn't happened yet, it just isn't going to happen. Period.

Not enough mental strength, not athletic enough, serve isn't strong enough, and he just isn't as talented as other guys in the op 10, even Roddick.

i'm guessing you've never seen federer in person. the guy looks like an athlete supreme.

IMO what separates Federer/Nadal/Novak/Delpo is the mental ability to remain consistent in three sets against all players of varying skills over a two week stretch.Even though Davy has the tools to beat these top players, like Blake/Nalby/Tsonga, I doubt he has the mentality to do so during a Slam.

Davy is one of my favorite players, but seriously, saying he's a favorite is a big joke. The guy hasn't even reached a slam final. He's in great form yes but he has so much to prove in best of five matches. And if you think Federer is going to play against him in a slam like he did in Doha you are wrong, Federer will find a way to win.

Go to MTF forum, funny photos thread, page 277 and you will see Roger's right arm(he is impersonating Rafa I think). It's pretty developed.
Dont think he was impersonating Rafa..He'd just rolled up his sleeve thats all.And that pose wasnt even close to the Rafa fist-pump.

Kolja is great,I love his game but no way he's the favourite for any slam,he just isn't.Best of five are a different ballgame.

I'd say he's one of the contenders for the title though which is still pretty good.
