Great interview. Another one of my favorite player to retire. Ferrer is the best role model in tennis. Always had the right attitude and mindsets, despite his shortcomings.

He played his last Slam at the 2018 US Open and had to retire from his 1st round match against Nadal of all people. He doesn't feel he is any longer fit enough to handle Bo5 matches which is why he is bowing out at his home tournaments in Spain, events he feels confident he can go far in.

And that’s normal because it was my first final. It’s logical. Anyway, maybe in those moments we were none the wiser. Neither myself or my team had a better idea of how to approach the match. We did what we could.

Why not believe him that stress of being in a first Slam final handicapped him?
In 2014 he was a little more prepared and took the first set from red-hot Nadal.

There's really nothing he could do in 2013, all his wins against Nadal since 2007 were very, very tight. Just doesn't have the power.
