"The top eight seeded teams receive a bye into the second round. An outstanding field is led by World No. 1 and defending champions Bob and Mike Bryan, who have won an ATP-best seven titles in 10 finals. They are playing in the Washington final on Sunday. The Bryans, who also won the title in Toronto in 2002, have won titles this years at the Australian Open, Las Vegas, Miami, Houston, Monte-Carlo, Hamburg and Los Angeles. They also have helped the U.S. to the Davis Cup semifinals.
Other seeds in the draw are: No. 2 and 2004 finalists Jonas Bjorkman and Max Mirnyi, No. 3 Mark Knowles and Daniel Nestor, who reached the final in 1996 and 2002 (although they each won the title with different partners). No. 4 are Martin Damm and Leander Paes, No. 5 and last year's finalists Paul Hanley and Kevin Ullyett, No. 6 and 2005 finalists Jonathan Erlich and Andy Ram, No. 7 Simon Aspelin and Julian Knowle, and No. 8 Mahesh Bhupathi and Pavel Vizner.
There are seven Top 10 singles players also in the draw - No. 1 Roger Federer (w/Allegro), No. 2 Rafael Nadal (w/Hewitt), No. 3 Novak Djokovic (w/Zimonjic), No. 6 Fernando Gonzalez (w/Ljubicic), No. 8 Richard Gasquet (w/Clement), No. 9 James Blake (w/J. Murray), and No. 10 Tomas Berdych (w/Kiefer)."
Those are some very good singles players playing together in the doubles draw. It'll be interesting to see how that much singles talent on one side of the court translates to the doubles game. Nadal and Hewitt have games that decidedly do not suit doubles, how will they do? How will Djokovic compare to doubles specialist Zimonjic?
