Fanboying aside you have to respect the big 3

Being a big Djokovic fan I would love him to get every record in the book and be GOAT and like Fed fans hoping he holds onto all records or Nadal fans hoping he takes the slam record and keeps adding to RG. But overall I respect these men so much and rivalry aside they have transformed the game.
I like seeing new players have high hopes for Sinner and a few others etc but tennis will be weird in a few years when the big 3 are completely gone, yes I agree with people that say unpredictable slams will be more fun but I feel we will wait along time to see even one player at any of these 3 players level and mentality.

It’s been a great era for the last 18 years or so I started watching Fed when I was young and was taking back then finally see a young Nadal challenge him then Djokovic going to such a high level in 2011 for mostly 10 years.

They have made this forum better and to think about it if there was only 1 there would be no GOAT debates as only one would of cleared up. In the end there will be 1 of them with the most important records but overall Fed will be remembered for his beautiful style while winning so much, Nadal clay GOAT who is nearly untouchable on the surface and Djokovic who is probably the most complete all round on surfaces.

Unpredictable (as in, no true favorites going in) slams are not more fun at all. They are FAR less interesting and more forgettable.

Great post. I agree. The 3 guys really took tennis to new heights. It’s amazing how long they have been able to stay at the top of the game. Here nadal and Djokovic are again duking it out in a massive major final. They continue to keep the young rising stars at bay, which is quite incredible.

Well that’s kind of the point if you think this is a weak era because nobody can beat Djokovic(bar himself) or Nadal making another RG final without dropping a set you are in for the weakest era in about 2-3 years when they are going/gone and we have finals like the USO again. It was nice to see Thiem win a slam as he deserved one but it was low quality and he was lucky it was Zverev on the other side of the net

Yeah I don’t think there will ever be 1 GOAT...Unless someone pulls ahead by a lot which I highly doubt....3 GOATS....

I think most find rg2020 more fun then uo2020
And both Rafa and Novak are key to that
Zverev and Thiem losing early made it irrelevant except Rafa might have had a challenge in sf

Your fandom is (inadvertently) showing here. ;) Fed is still ahead in the GOAT debate and it's just as likely he will be remembered as the GOAT because he ends up with the most slams. The assumption here Roger will be relegated to the vague "he won so much" instead of being on top of the heap with 20 slams. Your guy still has three to pass him and it's far from a foregone conclusion he'll do it. Nadal also may end up with 24 slams and become GOAT, not just clay GOAT. Nobody knows until they're all retired. But great post with a good message.

Oh yeah, I have a ton of respect for them but in saying that, I'd be pretty happy to see someone else take over the game now (unless it's Zverev). Of course the powers that be don't want that to happen because there are no young players that transcend the sport other than maybe Osaka on the women's side

Not really fanboying though, not many players that are naturally talented win that much that is what makes Fed special and by statistics he is the GOAT I just didn’t want to go into a big summary of the big 3 as the post was big enough anyway
