Lol South Korea did to Germany what Ghana did to the USA at the 2010 World Cup. Time wasting theatrics were S Tier.

Still remember the Ghana guy pretending to be injured, getting taken off on a stretcher, and then as soon as it hitting the touchline the dude sprints back into the game.

I don’t like this trend that the Qatar World Cup started of 50 years of added time.

I thought the explanation was the refs were stricter on time keeping. Stopping the stopwatch every time and immediately play needed to be stopped or had stopped for some reason.

First time Germany have ever been knocked out at the group stage. Not sure how my deep German roots will cope with this disaster.

What a frustrating match for the USA. Congrats to Sweden and especially to their goalkeeper but man they offered NOTHING offensively here. I'll be rooting completely for Japan to send them packing next round.

Sweden's keeper Musovic made 3 to 4 brilliant saves during normal play. Without those saves USA would have have won it in open play. Anyway VAR shows the ball crossed the line.

Some of the US' penalties were horrible, Rapinoe looked unusually cheery after missing hers.

I have nothing against the USA team or their players, and have very much enjoyed watching them to play over the years, but I'm very happy that they've been knocked out.

In terms of the continued progress of women's football, which has already made tremendous strides, it was better for them not to win the tournament for a 3rd time in a row - I don't think it's great for any sport, men's or women's, for one team to win a quadrennial World Cup 3 times in a row. Plus they were clearly sub-standard at this tournament, and nowhere near as strong as they were in 2015 or 2019, so a scenario in which they were playing so poorly for their standards but still somehow scraped their way to another title wouldn't have been good look. It was like how it was good for other teams to challenge Lyon's dominance and topple them in the Champions League (which they won 6 times in 7 years), and likewise Germany's dominance in the European Championships (after they won it 6 times in a row).

Clearly overall numerous other teams have improved considerably, and therefore so has the depth in competition, which is great for the sport and its overall health.

why did the coach take Morgan out of the game...just fatigue?

you can sense this game may be decided by pk so wouldn't you want to have her in the rotation?

forgot she did miss a pk during group, but still would trust her

What a great example why tennis players (a sport where playing better for the entire match leads to a win) often can't get "into" soccer (where the dominant team commonly doesn't win).
