GAMMA Challenger Syn Gut 16G

Hi,

Got a nice deal on a reel of this stuff in Gold color & 16G. I have read a few reviews and comments. Anyone have anything to add? How does it compare to say OG Sheep Micro.. or Forten Sweet 16? Looks like your basic syn gut. Looking for insights on tension holding, comfort, feel, power, spin potential... etc. Thanks!!

Never tried the Challenger version, but plain old Gamma synthetic gut 16 was my favorite synthetic gut out of PSGD, OG Sheep Micro and the Gamma synthetic gut with Wearguard. Tension was never an issue for me since none of them ever lasted more than 4 matches for me. I'll be curious to hear your thoughts on the Challenger.

With some discounts and reduced shipping... small gift card.. I got a reel (shipped) for $17.00. There is bit of feedback here and at another site (plus RSI data) all more or less positive. I string for a few folks that love the Big Hitter Blue/Syn Gut hybrid. I am sure it will get used in most cases as a cross.. but I will string a few of my own frames with a full bed to get some feedback. The RSI data:

Gamma Challenger 16 Nylon 1.32 217 10.95

I am guessing it will be hard to break, holds tension well and plays crisp.

Gamma says:

An all-around string that offers a balance of playability and durability for all playing levels and playing styles at a value price. High tenacity copolymer center core and outerwraps with Nylon 6 coating.

I will keep you posted mikeler!

I found it to be one of the better basic syn guts. Better across the board than Sweet, or the other non reinforced strings. Without the Kevlar strand, the time to breakage decreases, but for the price a very nice alternative to using a multi in the cross in a hybrid or as a full bed for a non string breaker.

Hey Steve,
If you're interested in this setup,
I'll be interested to test it hybrid with Kevlar and give everyone feedback :)

It's a basic synthetic, but it's pretty nice! I love it because of its crisp and comfy feel. Durability was just as much as another synthetic.

It would be best as a cross string in a hybrid.

Thanks for the offer but I need to stick with the softest of strings for my elbow right now. Maybe one day I won't be so restricted to only a few string types. :(
