Gamma starting clamp too tight? starting clamp and fixed clamps

I recently purchased a gamma clamp through amazon. mainly b/c it was the only one that would come with two day shipping besides being slightly pricey but I figured it would be a great investment.I mainly got it to try to prevent clamp slippage on the the first main pull and over clamping. I was stringing a pro supex maxim touch 17g multifilament string, but when I use the starting clamp it seems to crush the string a little. Is it mainly because I am using a softer string? I did try clamping on different sections of the clamp but it still seems to clamp really tight. If I do remove the springs to lower the clamping strength do I just match it the same way with the fixed clamps are supposed to be set to?

Am I using the starting clamp correctly:
(for example if I am stringing a racquet with 6 holes in the grommets in the throught of the raquet)

I clamp using the starting clamp on the head of the racquet. I pull half tension on that same string with the starting clamp towards the throat end. clamp the same string with the fixed clamp. Do a couple mains the other side using regular tension and the fixed clamp. then pull tension from where the starting clamp is and continue normally from there alternating every two or three mains.
A lot of videos seem to double pull both strings (while also using floating clamps that clamp both mains)but I'm not quite sure if that is possible with a alpha Pioneer DC Plus(dropweight). I just wanted to double check to see if this way is correct. It seems there are several different ways to do use the starting clamp but I'm not really sure if this is entirely correct.

That typically happens with any good starting clamp regardless of brand. It should not cause a real problem with the string because the crushed portion will be either really high or really low in the string bed. I personally would not take springs out of the clamp to loosen the tension. That seems to defeat the point of the starting clamp. Additionally, you are likely only noticing it because the string is both soft and thin. With a 16g poly it may be there but not as visible.

I used to use the method where you put a starting clamp right behind the fixed clam but I now use the method Irvin showed/has a video for where when starting you pull both strings at once. Then clamp one side and then put the starting clamp outside the hoop on that same string. When I do that I try to just put the string into the starting clamp (not deep into the clamp) in the hope there is less pressure on the string but enough to hold it. Any crushing is then not in the racquet face. I then do my first pull on the other half and I am off and running.

I have seen many videos where you start by double pulling but I don't know if you can do that with the drop weight machine I have. Its hard to find videos of people using the alpha pioneer dc plus, especially the part where they show tension pole and gripper. Even the tutorial video(online link) that comes with the machine skips over that part because they overlap the tutorial with the crank version. I figured I could do it the way I do it because that seems to be the same thing without double pulling.

I have never used a drop weight just a crank and electronic for what it is worth but am not sure why you couldn't.
