Genesis Blind String Test

So Genesis sent me a new string to test for them, since I use Typhoon as my main string. It is black in color, but looks like it might be triangular with a flat side and a pointy side. Almost makes the string bed seem sharp.

Not sure if these images will work, but i'll give it a try.

The string is triangular as confirmed by the Genesis rep.

"The string we have sent you, indeed a triangular shaped strings. We are trying to achieve even better tension maintenance with new strings and at the same time get adequate amount of spin production and power."

The string has great feel and even more power than typhoon. I think it characteristics are similar to what I have read about for black magic, though I never played with that string. But what is lost is that great ball grip that was uncanny with typhoon. With my whippy severe topspin forehand, the extra grip is really necessary to have the ball get up and down. The ball did not have this type of action anymore with the triangle strings. The triangular shape makes a sharp, uneven string bed, but the string surface too slippery. But still, great ball pocketing.

Haven't played with it again, I ill tomorrow night. I emailed them with some feedback and said the triangular shape made the string bed lack uniformity and maybe a mild twisting would help.

To my surprise, they emailed me back today saying they are sending me a twisted version of the same triangular string. So I will see if that helps with ball grip.

How can one test string for Genesis? I've tried all their strings, with Typhoon at the top, black magic in the middle, and spin x on bottom

So Genesis sent me another test string to try. This one looks just like Genesis Typhoon in battleship grey. I think it is Typhoon but triangular instead of pentagonal and also twisted the same way. Hard to tell if it is the identical composition, but I think so, just like the other one seemed to be Black Magic. The extrusion seems to be much deeper than Typhoon and the grooves are huge, almost feels like Solinco Barb Wire.

Excited to try this out, but I am guessing it will play about the same as regular Typhoon.
