Head IG Speed 300 Strings

Big Hitter Silver mains with Synthetic gut are pretty good. If you don't break strings very much, then multis like RIP Control and Genesis ThunderBlast are good. Don't put the tension too high though, keep it around 52-55

I've tried the following crosses with VS Black mains:

- CoFocus 17
- Focus Hex 18
- RPM Blast 17
- RPM Team 17

Team was a loser. Didn't last long enough. Hex and Blast were similar with both providing great control but neither lasted as long as CoFocus.

CoFocus doesn't provide as much control as the others but provides more spin, comfort, and durability.

In all cases I strung the mains in the mid 50s and the crosses in the low 50s.

Agree!
I been using the Head IG Speed 300 since 2013 and I've tried LOADS of string types and combos ... I have found the best to be:
Alu Power mains @ 24 kg (1.20 gauge) / Babolat Origin crosses @ 25 kg

Wow I was just trying to remember this make/model of this racquet recently because I had moved to the Clash, and this racquet was in the back of my head as a tryout that didn't work out.

But perhaps was a slight precursor of where we are now - bigger, wider beam racquet, softer but powerful.

I remember this one being too light (do you have weight added?), seemed too twisty, and felt that the hoop bent back too much which perhaps made it feel a bit vague in the stringbed. This was precisely the sort of racq that was the only alternative to the stiffer ones a while back. Cannot say if it sold well, do you see other users?

I would say the Clash betters this in so many ways, what was the RA flex in this one?

I am a reformed 'rackaholic' - realized a few years ago that it's 'horses for courses' with rackets - find one you like and stick with it - you'll improve much more that switching and swapping all the time (being a kit-monkey is dangerously addictive)
The best amateur tournament player I've seen in this city (Dubai) uses a banged up racket from 2008 (Head YouTek Speed Pro) and he beats absolutely everyone up to pro level - this racket was graded 'average' by most testers, yet the guy swears by it. Just shows you ...
