Help With Tension APDC

I was wondering if I can get some help with string tension with the Babolat Aeropro Drive Cortex. I used to use the Head Radical Microgel OS and strung that racquet at 60 pds with luxilon. I have been using the APDC for one month and have been stringing this racquet around 57 with luxilon, but I have been spraying the ball quite a bit. I am a 5.0 player. I just recently picked up a sponsorship from Babolat and have been trying to get used to the new Aeropro Drive Cortex GT model which I received a week ago.

Any thoughts on tension would be appreciated.

I'd switch back to your other racket. I found the aeropro cortex nearly impossible to control on groundies. If you are determined to use it though i'd just keep going up 4 lbs till i found the right tension.

I played at 55#s full poly. Groundstrokes are tough to control with this racquet for me also, so I made a racquet change. You really need to hit with a lot of spin and sometimes I don't want to do that.

I thought the higher level you get to, the lower tension you likely prefer. I've been playing for 2 years with this stick, not exactly a super consistent power hitter but I do hit with power, I string it at 53 (next string will be 50), and love it more and more. Not sure I get you guys but this racket is fairly forgiving and easy to use.

Well I can hot topspin and flat, but when I try to flatten out my forehand the APDC will fly unlike my Microgel Radical which is more of a control racquet. Maybe it is harder to hit flat shots with the APDC. Also I noticed the new APDC + GT is spraying as well. I have thought about stringing both racquets to 64 pds with full poly.

I've never strung my rackets above 60. I like my rackets to be launchy, responsive and dampened. What will happen if you string at low 50?

I notice that the apdc's sweetspot is more at the center instead of toward the tip. Try to utilize the racket's sweetspot. HItting flat is more of a function of swingpath than the racket. APDC comes originally HL and quite balanced at the hoop. It shouldn't be prone to twisting or moving erratically so I don't see how you can't hit flat or topspin.

Hola botticelli,

Don't go above 55. You need dwell time with the APDC. If you need to hit flat shots don't get to close to the ball and hit the ball going up... to max height.

I had the same problem with the APDC when I played with it. If you recently became sponsored by Babolat and they want you to use the Aero Line I would recommend the Aero Storm Tour. If not, I would suggest the APDC around the 62lb mark and possibly some lead at 3/9 and in the handle to up the swingweight.

It's probably not good for the racquet, but I string mine with poly mains and synthetic crosses at 66 and 69 lbs. I have to restring after each match, but it does make my shots much more easy to control.
