How do y'all practice? How often?

Myself it's about 5 days a week, sometimes more often and/or two a days if the weather is good, average around 12 hrs a week, more if I am on leave.

Mostly hitting cooperative/competitive groundstrokes, baseline to net, serve and return, the stuff in drills etc. Alot of focus for myself on stroke quality over point play. Lately I've been working on returning weak 2nd serves. When I'm hitting with less skilled players I'll often try to practice hitting a moderate paced shot in a location they can but a good stroke on it. If I'm hitting with equal or better players I'll go for bigger swings and work on higher powered stuff, as they do as well.

I compete weekly in a doubles group, and have sets and or 10 point tiebreakers some days with hitting partners during practice, but I'd say my practice to play ratio is probably 80/20.

In my experience a lot of people want to play sets, and aren't as interested in pure practice.

What y'all like to do?

Used to be 3 days of drills and pattern play, the a couple matches.
Right now it's just like 3-4 matches per week for fun.

every single day. that's how addicting it is. there are whole bunch of things I practice while watching live matches on TV. and shadow swinging with court level videos. It's all about knowing what to train and how.

1x a week. Mixed doubles or doubles. Players range from 3.0/3.5 - 5.0/5.5

Occasionally hit or play an additional day if I can schedule it in (singles).

6 days a week for at least 3 hours a day. On Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday I usually play 6 or more hours. Usually it's a challenger match or two on Saturday, tournaments twice a month. I am hardcore.

Wow!
You’re probably the highest level player here.
What’s your UTR?

1 weekly lesson and 1 additional practice session per week. Apart from that, I typically average 2-3 singles matches and 3 doubles matches a week. So, 70-75% match play and 25-30% practice.

Does your practice include point play? Also when you rally, do you just rally or do you have objectives as in hitting patterns, etc? I think as long as there’s a component of point play in your routine you’re ok. You need opportunities to practice changing direction on your terms AND when youre under pressure. Pure straight ahead baseline rally is pointless and doesn’t provide any value.

I know I am not the recipient of these questions but I can give you my experience in my 3 hour playing sessions. I usually warm up with mini-tennis/volleys for five-ish minutes. Then I scoot back to the baseline and hit randomly for probably 15-20 minutes, after that I start placing my shots and adding greater pace. Do some serves for 10 minutes and then play 2 or 3 sets. Usually the sets are quick so afterwards I work on the things I did not do the best in the sets. That's the jest. Sometimes times 2 or 3.

Right now it is mid 10.s. Pretty bad for D1 attemptee, however I am only a sophomore so I have a decent amount of time. Hoping for mid 12 or 13 by Senior summer.

Ehhh .. you get to 13 as a HS senior and you'd be a top 40-50 junior - in the WORLD and would be the #1 stick on many a D1 team. Not saying you can't get there but ...

Top 100 in the world, not 40-50. Competition here in the states is fierce. 13 would put me top 15(blue chip) in the USA.

good luck! ahh, to be 16 again :D
Thank you. It shouldn't be too hard, I have a tournament in a couple weeks that should put me at 11. Then a couple championships over the early summer should bump me up to 11.5. My dad is a doctor also, so I know how not to overdue it.

If you're 10.5 currently at end of soph year going to 12.5+ in two years will be close .. 13 will be tough. however, if you turn out to be a world class athlete and player I'll have to eat my words :) look forward to hearing your updates.

Yes sir, I hope you're hungry. Will be giving them. Distance is no factor for me. Me and a buddy of mine from Texas will fly out to Utah or Colorado in the summer and play from 3 or 4 weeks. I have a tennis court at my house. I have all the leisure necessary to get exponentially better, quickly.

Lol. In my thread a couple months ago about Biomechanics I thought trolling whoever on here would be fun. An immature mistake at the time because some people on here have some decent tips and advice. I also need other people to review my videos because my coach has 1000 videos of me, and now he just criticizes my outfits. Lol

1 or 2 days practice/drills with friend, 1 day singles match and 1 day doubles match. Overall not more than 3 days a week

+1

I'm jealous. All kidding aside, good for you.
It's not all that fun tbh, and after a while it gets boring. My girlfriend can only take so much out in the sun(pale skin light eyed) and back boards get stupid after a while. My serve can only get so fast and so consistent, sadly. This summer I will have to find a new hitting partner.

I didn't say she wasn't tan, I just referenced 'pale' to differentiate she was white. :-D But on a serious note she has a dermatological skin issue which makes her allergic to most suncreens. Floppy hats and leggings can only go so far when it's 110F.
