Lol 40-15 with Fed serve at Wimbledon , there can't be a bigger choke than that
True. He's also choked when having 2 mps against Nadal in the 5th set of the Rome 2006 final, and having mps against Del Potro at Indian Wells 2018 and against Djokovic at USO twice. But that doesn't excuse Nadal who, as the greatest fighter in the history of sport. being up 4-2 and 30-15 and still losing the match.
Federer was 37 so he was kinda old when it happened. Nadal was only 25 and at the peak of his powers.

Mike , jokes aside . I don't think Nadal is the mentally toughest player . A lot of toughness depends on your style of play.Djokovic plays a solid high percentage game and his defense and baseline game is probably the best on tour , that helps a lot. I agree Nadal should have won atleast one of 2012 or 2017 but if we dwell upon missed chances then Fed tops the chart. he should have won against Safin and DelPo .

With Djokovic's performance in Dubai who know if he would have even made the QF or SF in the AO.
LOL are you kidding?? Did you see that atrocious draw Djokovic had at AO before he was removed? Kecmanovic, Tommy Paul, Sonego, Monfils and Berretini. A full list of clowns and pigeons. Djokovic was going to have a feast on all these guys without breaking a sweat all the way up the SF against Nadal.

Good points. I don't disagree. I guess it's too convenient for anyone to claim "choke" unless they've competed at the world level and faced the world's best. While Federer was in a winning position, he wasn't a sure bet to win despite serving those match points. His wife's face tells the whole story. Even she didn't fully believe he was going to beat Djokovic in that moment. :-D :-D

I am glad that you noticed her face at 40-15 . She didn't even celebrate that point :D :D and was looking worried as hell as if she knew .As far as 40-15 being choke. I guess Djokovic's great return and high percentage game rattled Federer and i even made a thread but fed fans themselves called it choke and got it deleted lol

A quick dig into the numbers behind his winning streak shows that Nadal’s serving has been fundamental to his recent success.
His success serving is vital in every year.
The Spaniard has won 89.7 per cent of his service games this year, up on his 85.8 per cent career average.
That's only part of it. He's around 33% for return games. Put those together. That's over 60%, so going into clay that will just climb. He is very dangerous at the moment.

In addition, he's winning 69% of his service points but holding 72% of break points. Normally that would be around 68%, because about on point lower is typical. He is currently zoned.

Federer should've done an Ivanisevic. With those 4 match points, he should've gone for an all-out first and second during both points. Then again, it's easy to say it now. :-D Nadal had all sorts of trouble as well a year earlier. He probably should've been up 2 sets to 1 on Djokovic. He had chances in that third set tiebreaker.
