I think it's more of a match-up issue as opposed to talent really. If Nadal was that good of a hc player, he would have numerous USOs and AOs and hc masters to his name don't you think?
His style is a nightmare for Federer. Doesn't necessarily mean Nadal is better on hards though.
And they have two very different styles. One is slick smooth and effortless, the other is a pushing grinder who plays every point like it's a match point, leading to premature physical issues. Federer's not the one who is concerned that he'll be unable to go skiing once his career is over.

It is if you are Djokovic, as he lost to Federer at Roland Garros last year and almost at the US Open too. And Federer so far is playing better in 2012. Good chance Federer doesn't lose to Djokovic in the slams this year.
