When Nadal wins on Sunday, what will be the implications of a 4-0 hard court slam h2h?

NADAL is into yet ANOTHER Australian Open final, and will face his ultimate puppet in the final- roger federer. NADAL boasts a 23-11 h2h record against federer, including an awesome 9-2 slam h2h. federer hasn't beaten NADAL in a slam for 10 years.

But when NADAL wins on Sunday, he'll have beaten federer for the 4th time on a hard court in a slam. What will be the implications?

federer's hard court "prowess" will be well and truly tarnished. Successive defeats to his two biggest "rivals", Dj and NADAL in hard court slam finals will do just that.

Not to mention a whole host of other juicy goodies- like a double career grand slam (fat chance of federer ever achieving that at Roland Garros).

And NADAL would boast greater longevity than federer too, since he'd have won a slam 12 years after he won his first (federer could only manage it 9 years after his first) and let's not forget 10 consecutive years of winning at least one slam per year (federer only managed 8).

Why can Rafa fans not be gracious in victory, like their idol? Why always bothering with demeaning Fed when he loses?

I probably wouldn't mind Rafa winning as much if it weren't for this scum idiot crew to come out every time he does.

Now you know that he's a troll. Don't be oblivious.

Only chance Rafa is Fed isnt feeling well. That where it ends. 5 hour match one day less rest and we arent in 2009 anymore he isnt 22.

I'm hoping Federer wins, the but only reason I'd root "against" Nadal is for the obnoxious folks arrogantly assuming he's already won before the match is even plays and who, should he win, will create an endless parade of all things ridiculous.

I'm sure of course there would be plenty of obnoxious Federer fans should he win too, however.

LOL I thought you were serious until I saw the same posts everywhere...So you're trying to jinx Fed? It doesn't matter what you type on here. Not going to change the outcome of the match. I would suggest you get a life and stop getting obsessed. Go out and play or find a girlfriend.

Either way it means he's worried.

Federer has a decent shot at this title (even with Nadal in the final) and I would laugh pretty hard if he wins.

I thought losing to Nadal was the worst thing to have hit Roger. Then those loses to Djokovic occurred and the one to Raonic. That was more heartbreaking.
If Roger wins, nothing like it. But have to accept any good result like semi, final is a bonus.

Nadal open era GOAT hands down. Nadal is way past his prime/peak too so there's none of these "past prime" argument crap. Not like there wasn't much of one anyway considering fed played well all the way to 2012

Where is the "No implication" choice?

I mean neither of these guys were even expected to make the finals much less one of them win it.

Wait if Nadal is the open Era GOAT then why doesn't he have the slam count? Or such horrible weeks at #1? Or zero world tour finals? Surely the GOAT should have won the most major events.

On top of this, creating threads that concludes that he's already won the match two days before playing it is as classless as it gets. Pathetic.

Yes, why can't Rafa fans be as gracious as the Fed fans on here. Why do the Rafa fans call Fed Mugerer when he loses? Why must they demean his opponents when they fail to beat him?

Oh, they can. Believe me. But the good Rafa fans here are very few. OP is not one of them.

He hasn't won a slam in 3 years and now all of the sudden he is going to win 3 more?
He'd need to win just two more and yes, I think he's capable of it. In fact I imagine winning on Sunday will be the perfect incentive for him to redouble his efforts even more.

When he catches up to the record then obviously he'll have the advantage. But till then he still needs to beat 17.

If this happens the world will come to an end! Not. Who ever wins: great. Who ever loses: also great! Both coming back after a long time off competition, not expected to get all that far anyhow... it's just great both are playing very competitive Tennis right now! May it be a great, no an epic final!

Nadal needs at least 3 more slams to be on a level with Roger. I think even most objective Nadal fans know he needs 17 to tie himself with Federer. The H2H itself is an implication of how close the slam tally is. So it doesn't truly mean anything extra. It doesn't really stand on its own. Nadal doesn't have 14 slams AND the H2H advantage on Federer. He has 14 slams directly because of the H2H advantage he has against Federer. Which is also part of the reason that Federer "only" has 17, and the reason Nadal needs 17.

And I don't think I need to get into time at #1 and WTF titles. I don't even really mean to turn this into another "GOAT" discussion, but I have to say something against anybody who thinks Nadal only needs 2 more slams to be "greater" or "more accomplished than Federer. That idea should be tossed in the trash can ASAP.

Rafa needs 18 majors to get GOAT status and he has to be reborn to achieve that milestone. Quit the pipe dream and hope he plays to his form on Sunday

Not sure why I'm replying to an obvious troll post, but ok...

If Nadal wins it helps his legacy immensely. 15 majors, at least two at each major, a major winner after turning 30. It would also make him the odds on favorite to win the French, which would also be huge legacy wise (10 FOs, 16 majors).

If Fed loses I think it crushes him mentally but this tournament has HELPED his legacy, regardless of the final outcome. All of Fed's generation has retired. All of them are gone. It's now just Federer, at 35, still laying waste to the entire tour with the exception of two guys, who also happen to be all time greats 5-6 years younger than he is. That's amazing. Every time people write fed off he surprises people, and he's done it again.

I'm a huge Fed fan, and I think he loses on Sunday. I just don't like the matchup and I think it's really unfortunate for Fed that he hasn't been able to catch a break in his last four Major final opponents (3 vs Djokovic, 1 vs Nadal). But this also tells me that he's a threat to win major titles still, and likely has more record setting to do.

Wouldn't mind Nadal winning if it weren't for the trolls like OP and 90sclay.

Regardless of that, a Nadal win would mean he goes ahead of Sampras into 2nd place on the GOAT list.

It would show that Rafa was never really just a clay court specialist because if he wins he has won all four majors at least twice, if thats not versatility then what is? He would be second on the all time list in majors won and he and Fed would be the only two players to win at least fifteen slams in the open era and all time. Nadal does not need to beat the record to be the main man because his career titles speaks for itself, he has faced his two biggest rivals in Fedovic and held his own more times than I can count. He is a fighter and if people say he is the greatest of all time by careers end then I do not see a problem with that. Bill russel is not considered better than jordan because he has won 11 championships to jordan's six. Numbers dont tell the whole story, you have to look into the context that is the big four era from 2004 onwards and what these guys have achieved.

I don't know what it means. Baby Federer can't even beat Nadal. Nadal is going to win on Sunday, we all know it, as the five set record for Federer is abysmal. I think, watching this tournament, with a fresh pair of eyes after not having seen Nadal And Federer for a while, that this is where things stand: Federer is the most talented player I have ever seen. No question. Nadal is just simply the better competitor, and he will out compete Federer again on Sunday. It is what it is. Nadal is just the harder player to put away in a match, and that's the difference.
