It's time, Fed..................

Time to dump Jose Higueras. He has done nothing for you that far. You could have gone without Higueras and win more than 4 games at the French Final, and he is not helping you with the confidence. Call me crazy if you guys want, I really think Fed needs to hire Brad Gilbert on board, and then use Tony Robbins as a "consultant".

Seriously, something needs to change, and change fast. At this rate, I do not see Fed make it to the Semis of USO. Way too inconsistent and no confidence at ALL. It's painful to see Fed not playing all that well at this time. Without saying too much, I'll just shut up now........

Well, Higueras might not be the coach Federer needs at the moment. But the problem lies in Federer IMO and not in the coach. For a long time Federe was too stubborn even to have a coach. Truth is he still won about all tourneys.

Now he is entering a phase of decline he hired Higueras as a part time coach. He needs a full timer but the question is: will he listen to his coach. Fed seems to be so full of himself that he does not want to listen to anyone. Off course recent results have shown that he is not getting anywhere the way he chooses his strategy at the moment.

^^ i totally agree, that it seems because he has won many tourney's on his own it seems his not willing to listen to anyone but himself, yet having someone to sound off and get second opinions is what he needs, does the worlds best feel like no one can advice him, Fed has said no one knowns his game better than he does true but what he sees and what other see is different.

Nope, he didn't. Higueras was sitting in Federer's box during the match tonight against Simon.

Is he still with him? Wow. In one of their practice videos on youtube, it seemed as if they were arguing. Higueras was telling him what to do, and he was talking back?

Its a cycle same as Sampras, after sampras won the wimbledon 2000 and lost in tons of tournament inlcuding the finals of 2001 USO to Safin. Federer is going through the same thing but the thing is IMHO Federer wont beat Sampras's record of 7 wimbledons. There is no doubt he can still break the 14 grand slams in maybe the US open coming up and the AO and posssibly wimbledon. But right now he was in the same cycle as Pete was during end of 2000 to the USO 2002

I think Fed needs time off to regroup. He doesn't seem interested in tennis at all....he is mentally and physically fatigued and should just take time off away from the game. Right now, it's embarrassing to watch him.

I think he's extremely interested in winning right now but all those records & fear of never setting them is getting in the way of playing his game...one eye on the ball, the other on Sampras's record isn't going to win him matches. And the fact that the sands of time are sifting through the hour glass adds to his angst.

well for me tony bringing back tony roche will be a good thing for him now. tony was with him during his most wonderful days, from ao 2005 (though he lost, a lot of wins followed) to ao 2007 (didn't drop a set).

we don't know how much conditioning that fed has been doing. based on some of the video clips that we've seen, looks like he is working on them. but I notice a lot of his shots are missed due to poor movement. Like some other threads have said, he is definitely losing a step. and his movement is what makes him so good. So along with gilbert and tony robbins, I would propose gil reyes (agassi's trainer) as well.....fed needs to put a team together, and quick!

Hi strategy is fine, he's just a little slow. He doesn't look hungry out there at all...like when it's time to consolidate the break you gotta step it up. Geez!

His stubbornness may have helped him establish his dominance but it may also precipitate his downfall.

I don't know, is the fact that Roger has been able to win so much without a coach reassuring news, in the sense that it's one major card at his disposal he hasn't used yet? What if he finds his magic coach, like a Gil Reyes or a Daren Cahill? Whatever happens, I don't have a crystal ball, but I'm certain there'll be more magic from Fed...
