Just Give the Trophey to Roger Federer

Wimbledon tournament organizers: Hand over the trophey to Roger Federer. No one has a shot at beating him, and I'll be very much surprised if he loses a set en route to winning the title this year. I know I'll take some shots for this, because everyone wants to think there always is a chance he will lose, but not this year, not at Wimbledon. Roddick? No shot against the man that owns him, on top of the fact Federer is really wanting to repeat here. Henman? If he even gets far enough, stage fright, pressure, and the best player in the world will be enough to dismantle him completely. Hewitt? I don't think he has the firepower to trouble Fedex, especially not on grass. Plus both meetings this year have gone to Federer, conceeding just one set and winning five. In Hamburg, Fed won 0 and 4. Grosjean? 'Comon people, realistically.
Flipper, Karlovic, Ivanisevic, other Lukers? Nope.

I'm not mad about this, I absolutely love Roger Federer and I think he's great for the sport. He's a class act, wonderful personality, great humility, and the most talent there ever was. He's the most fun player to watch, even more so than Pete. I just watched last year's final again, and he played AMAZING. If he can reproduce that kind of tennis this year, he ALREADY IS THE 2004 WIMBLEDON CHAMPION. CONGRATS ROGER ON YOUR 3rd MAJOR!

For all those of you who will call me out (aames, felder) just look back here when Rog takes home the title. I guarentee that Roger Federer wins the Wimbledon title. Hands down. No arguements. No one can beat him.

Well, my dark horse just bolted, (see "Safin Wimpy on Wimby" NY Daily news ) so there's only one hope. Come on Goran. Or if not him that Jimmy Wang seems to be putting up a pretty good fight. Now all he has to do is break Roddick's serve . LOL That rain is getting discouraging and making me punchy.

Dear young friend, I pray that your faith in Christ will always be lively and strong, this way you will be ready to tell others the reasons for your hope. You will be messenger of all the inane cliches you heard on ESPN for the world.

Seriously pal, I don't mean to spoil your party but do you really think you brought something to the table? The only thing I got to learn from your post is that you watched last year's final again and got really excited. FYI:

Bookmakers are the first to admit they really know nothng about tennis & in fact their predictions about slam winners are usually about as accurate as Jon Wertheim's. Remember 2001? 250/1 Goran to win. Hey, this is your chance to make a buck or 2, davis aames. LOL

aames, why don't you just take your damn comments and stuff them up your a-s-s? Thanks. If you have nothing good to say, don't say it, don't make us read all your s-h-i-t, ok? Why do you always have to say something negative? Just shut up and leave the topic alone if you think its not worth posting under. You must have no life, only posting crap to cause trouble.

Wow.....someone really likes Federer.....

...although I am a Federer fan, I can't say that he has guaranteed victory at Wimbledon. Yes, he's looked strong in the warmup and 1st round, but what tells you that he won't have an "off" day?

Looked what happened at the French Open? He blew everyone away in the warmup to that (Coria, Moya, etc.) and looked invincible in his 1st 2 rounds of the tourney. Then came Guga, and conditions were not great for Fedex, made some unusual mistakes and ended up losing. He was the favorite to win there as well and didn't. And please, don't give me that "that was clay, this is grass" routine......it can happen to ANYONE on ANY surface.

He's looking strong, but he'll be tested for sure. If he does not have an "off" day, then I agree he will be hard to beat, but watch out, he's potentially going to have to play Karlovich (a grass nightmare), Moya, Hewitt, and Roddick.......

watch out for hewitt and roddick. enough said. federer has a pretty tough draw, whereas roddick has nothing. so if fed makes it to the final, hell be tired out vs roddick. then again, hes gonna get more rest than roddick with the schedule (which im sure could end up being the american commentators excuse for roddick losing anything)

Painful reminder loser (6-0/6-0/6-0) -- you are the one you brought my name in this thread.

Thought about trying internet chastity for a while? Looking at your reply to my comments, the devil is at work in that little head of yours. Sure you haven't been abused by a priest today?

All I was trying to articulate is that looking at the bets, Masha might be the one who ends up making a buck. Although I doubt he will put money where his mouth is -- too focused saving for next year's legg Mason Challenger entry fee I guess.

You could have said the same about Coria in the French, but he got injured. You never know, Federer might get injured along the way too and that means a new Wimbledon champ.

After just the first round, you can say somebody is the favorite to
win the trophy, but to ask the tournament to hand trophy directly
to some player, it's dry/dull/dumb, it's meaningless, and actually
stupid.

Anyone who appreciates tennis will admire Federer, his game is awesome to watch, but on grass anything can happen especially the grass at SW19. For all we know he could loose tomorrow.

But I hope that he doesn't meet Roddick again this year as it will be in the final and I am hoping for a Henman V Fed final.

Look f-u-c-k-e-r, that's where I draw the line. You're starting to go after my religion, and that's not cool. You're some cheap b-a-s-t-a-r-d, and I bet you don't play any sports. Why don't you make a reference to how all Muslims are terrorists or how Jews are misers while your at it? Why don't you just go ahead and insult every religion there is, since your so cool.

Federer the magnificent

Like most observers, I believe that Roger is a lock. No one gave Arthur Ashe a chance to beat Jimmy Connors in the 1975 Wimbledon finals. Connors was on a roll destroying every opponent in sight, but Ashe came up with the perfect game plan. You just never know!!

Totally agree. I also think Fed is the favorite, if he stays on course, but anything can happen. Now, I don't think nerves will get him anymore, but injuries can and do happen. And he also can have a rare bad day at the office.

When did the Tennis-Warehouse Pro Player forum become a battleground for religious debate? Aames, cool it- while your remarks are occasinally funny, I'm sure that most people don't even bother to read anything you write seriously- if this is your goal on this forum, being the jester, fine. MaSha, relax- I honestly don't think Aames was attacking your religion (and I'm a devout Catholic, if you feel soothed knowing that). Just let him be...maybe one day he too will grow up.

Since when is death retirement? I think he should step down and let someone that can talk and lift his head take the position. Like Conan said, if you saw him at a party or soemthing you'd probably call an ambulance. It's obvious that he isn't well and he should just take a break and chill out.

Well, I looked around and you are the only bible-waving poster in the arena. Muslim, jew, mormon, scientologist, Jehova's witness, WHATEVER - just don't bring the topic of religion to my face.

Words of warning and don't look in the bible for this one: "You keep talkin' like a b*tch, and I'm gonna slap you like a b*tch."

Perfmode: I was being a bit coy with you with the death comment, but the practical reality is that retirement is death when it comes to the Pope. While there are some precedents for Pope's resigning, they are rare and problematic. Enough of the religious stuff, though, since I am a skeptic at heart. I still think, however, that Masha shouldn't model himself after the original "angry" zealot (Dubya)-- but we shouldn't move into politics either. He should instead grow to be a kind, forgiving god fearing man with a terrific cross court forehand.

Aames, perfmode, why don't you just stop being gay? Thanks. Somehow, I also think that if I were a Muslim, aames, you would not have made any negative remarks towards my religion. Try tolerance buddy; it's not too late to get the crap your entourage is feeding you out off your head. You're 14 FOR CHRIST'S SAKE so do what a 14 YO should do -- try to get laid, hang out with the cool kids, get a skateboard, whatever works for you man. But religion? That was the closest thing to the young republican club and the math club as a social killer when I was your age... "You oughta be out in a convertible, bird-doggin' chicks and bangin' beaver".

Buddy, I'm 14, I've got tons of friends in my class, I play hockey, lacrosse, football, basketball, and tennis competitevly, and I've got a girlfriend hotter than anyone you know, so why don't you stuff it? Are you married, do you have a girlfriend? Probably not. By the way man, skateboards are out. And no, I'm not going to try to get laid by my girlfriend, we rather spend time making out, going that far is a little much at 14. I just happen to be a devout catholic, I go to a Catholic high school and most of my friends are good Christians as well. By the way, maybe YOU should be the one playing sports. I can dunk on 10 feet with a small basketball, can you aames? What sports you play? Sucker...

Speaking as we are of Republicans' Clubs, War Rooms, Dr Strangelove, and the recently deceased, it is a true story that once Ronald Reagan was inaugurated as President of our Wonderful Land, the first thing he asked to see upon taking residence in the White House was the War Room from Dr Strangelove. That dumb bastid thought it was real!!!
