How bad can it really be? Anyone try this yet?

I recently got the 18g version of Pro Hurricanes and they are WAY softer then the 16g version. Almost felt like a synthetic to me.

So if I use that as a cross and some 17g or 16g Forten Kevlar mains, how bad can it really be?

I used Kevlars for years before I switched to all Poly's. I miss the control I had with Kevlar. At this stage If I use Kevlar main and synthetic cross, chances are the crosses will pop within a couple or days maybe 3.

Comments?

Go for it. Hope you have medical insurance though. :).

If full kevlar didn't bother you though, it should be fine. You might want to give your stringer a tip though. A big one. Enough to cover years of psychological therapy,.

haha weren't you using the kevlar/poly hybrid as a metaphor for a certain personality a few weeks ago?

Hey man, that was 16 gauge sh1t. I'm talking 18 guage now. Much Much softer and more elastic. Not as harsh like before. This one has some feel....ings to it. The 18g is not a plastic doll ya know. It's more mature then the 16g. Speaking of which, she called earlier and sounded a bit down. She said she was sick. I don't buy it. I know she misses matchpoints as well. Seriously, it's the most exciting point of the match.

Anyhow, why do people put words in your mouth? I don't remember saying all Kevlar. If my friend ever sends me some Kevlar I'm going to mix it with the 18g Pro Hurricanes. I doubt it's going to make anything worse as far as my tennis elbow what not. The only thing I'm concerned is if it would be a bad idea to have a thinner cross then the main.

I'm also my own stringer and have been for many many years :) Anyhow, Happy St. Pat's Day again. CHeers!

Kevlar/poly is what I have now on my stick. Main and cross string are 16g. I really like it. The poly allows be to swing faster and still maintain control. I guess its the long dwell time poly has that gives me the added control.

Hi Lambsscroll, At what tension you strung for Kevlar/poly on your racquet???

I've use this setup for a long time. My favourite is Ashaway Kevlar 17 @ 55lbs/ Alu-power 16L @ 56 lbs. During the year using this kind of hybrid, my already sored elbow feels OK. And, 80% of my friends changed to KV/Poly hybrid and stick to it. No PAIN reported.

I had tried Zyex once and my elbow can't serve now. You see the difference.

I tried Gamma Extreme Spin a while back, which is 19g Kevlar (or Aramid) and 17g synthetic. It felt soft enough, and I don't use polyester because it's normally too hard on my arm.
