Knotty things

Soo I've been looking around the site, the web for information about knots.

Seems there are several knots.. the half hitch, double half hitch, starting knot, bulky starting knot, parnell knot, wilson pro knot, pc knot.

Seems the half hitch is the basis for all knots, the staring block so to speak.
No one seems really to use the double half hitch
Parnell knot seems to be a favorite,
I've only heard about the Wilson Pro knot and Pc Knot on a utube video..
Are there other knots?
Starting knot is pretty explanitory.

So what is everyones favorite knot for tie offs for starting knots?

Is there a knot fad like a lot of fads, some gain popularity untill a new one shows up?

I'm very new to stringing and just trying to get a grip on what people use, what the USRSA recommends.. I wanna do it right.

Thanks!

I don't use a starting knot, rather use a starting clamp, and then use what is now referrred to as the parnell. In tight spaces, I use what is now referred to as a pro/wilson knot, which is basically a one and a half hitch.

I did a video of the "pro" knot here:

good luck.

I don't like starting knots, personally I think it's for old school wooden rackets.

I like to use a Parnell knot if there is space. If there is no space I use a Pro/Wilson knot.

Hey, nothing wrong with old school..
YULitle uses a starting (bulky) Knot, but like you two have said.. seems everyone has gone away from that and use a starting clamp.

Rick, here's one for you!!!

When you get to the point at 2.22 in your vid where you have your loop and your tail (just before you pull the tail to cinch up the knot) if you take the tail through the loop again (so the tail would be pointing towards the centre of the racquet head) does it them become a parnell? because i've been doing this for a while and the finished result looks exactly like a parnell!!!

@Iwto -sorry to hijack! As for knots - use whatever you can tie well to get the job done. UKRSA recommend double half-hitch when stringers are learning as it's simple to tie and pretty effective! and yes, there is a certain amount of snobbery and trendyness with knots :)
