Leather grips

Im trying to add some weight to my racquet but dont want to put any lead tape at the handle... Could a leather grip be an alternative to lead tape?

Which brand makes the heaviest leather grip?... Or are they pretty much the same...

yes, it could be an alternative, and a leather grip is about 0.2 oz heavier than a normal replacement grip. i think babolat's or volkl's are the heaviest of the bunch. fairways are best if you can still find them (TW has them in a navy blue color)

leather grip heavier

I noticed a different feel in my racquet when I switched to the leather grip (Babolat). It definately felt heavier at the handle.

I didn't realize at the time that putting on a leather grip would make such a noticable change in the weight/feel of my racquet.

I recently replaced the plastic grip on my racquet with a Babolat leather grip. The original grip weighed 15 grams while the Babolat leather grip weighed 29 grams. I have a bunch of Fairway grips and a couple of Pro Kennex leather grips that I have not weighed yet but I suspect both are significantly heavier than the standard grips the vast majority of racquets come with.

Well... I dont think leather grips would look good on my racquet so as far as the feel and texture of the grip I dont care because i will be using a overgrip but I just want one for the extra weight...

What do you guys think of wilson leather grips?

The Wilson leather grips felt firm, much like a fairway or a volkl imo. Like you, I don't use a bare leather grip because it would just fly out of my hand, but instead opt for one Wilson pro overgrip.
