I've seen the fight many times, but the same thing would've happen if you put them in a Pride ring.

Not really. Pride there's no elbows and Mirko isn't used combatting that. And he wasn't used to being scrunched up against the cage, which impedes mobility.

I don't think you can blame the cage for Mirko's loss. The high kick was in the middle of the cage. He did get cut up by some elbows, but really, you think CroCop would've won if it were in the ring?

Well, the elbows and being beaten while pressed up against the cage really, really worn him down and Gonzaga was still pretty fresh. I think that was what did him in. When they were stood back up, he just needed to be finished. (My opinion). The attempt at the block of the kick seemed half-hearted and low.

I don't think that Mirko was as worn down as you say. But even if he was, then what's to say Gonzaga wouldn't have been able to do that in a Pride ring? Elbows aren't his only weapon, and CroCop didn't even attempt to scramble while they were near the center of the octagon.

Again, do you think CroCop would've won if it were in Pride?

Well, it goes back to what I was saying. CroCop didn't scramble while they were near the center of the octagon because he seemed to already be almost defeated when they were stood back up. I think that CroCop would have given him a much better fight if not won in Pride. You're right, elbows aren't his only weapons, but they were one of his best weapons, along with the kick, in that particular fight because CroCop isn't used to fighting with elbows a lot at that time.
