My ASO Ankle Brace Dilemma

Im going to order an ASO Ankle Brace for my left ankle because i have been experiencing pain for about 2 weeks everytime i play tennis. I am in the middle of taking off a week so it will heal for my tournament this coming weekend, and i had a few questions.

I most likely wont be playing until Thursday, and my match will either be friday or saturday, so will this give me enough time to get use to the brace????? If i wear them around the house will that help my ankle get accustomed to them???

Should I get one for my right ankle also?, i have been experiencing minor pains occasionaly in the right, and i was also wondering if i would feel off balance if i had only one on.

Will it fit okay into my shoe without feeling cramped or too snug?? I wear the Court Ballistic 1.3 with a Foot Solutions insole (has a high arch). My shoe is a size 7 mens and my ankle measures in at about 9" (so would i get the XS brace?)

What color should i get, black or white????? I have the Wh/Black/Yellow version of the ballistic and was wondering which color you think would look better

I appreciate your help a ton, :)

I wear McDavid ankle braces so this may be a little helpful.

My ankle braces took a few days to break in, so if you wear them all day everyday starting as soon as you get them, they should be fine for the tournament. But eventually they will fit so well that you won't even know you have them on.

I wear braces on both of my ankles. I don't know about feeling off balance, but I figured that I may as well protect both of my ankles as well as I can. I didn't wear ankle braces when I first started playing tennis but I twisted my ankle one day on the court and that was all it took for me to decide I needed to do something to protect myself from future injury.

As far as fitting in your shoe, expect to feel a lot more snug. I don't know about the 1.3's but I wore the 1.2's and I got black toenails, and I also experienced the same thing with Addidas shoes. Fit is going to be your worst enemy with regards to ankle braces. Even if you have enough room in the footbed of your shoes, if you have been playing for several hours and your feet begin to swell up you are still going to have a tight feeling.

I am a size 7 also and I wear an XS but that is with McDavid.

Color choice is up to you, but I wear white hats, and since my ankle braces require them to be hand washed, I bought white ones so I can just hand wash my braces and my hats at the same time.

Thanks so much for you help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D

The only thing i am worried about is the fit becasue my insole is pretty thick and it took me a while to find just a tennis shoe that wouldnt feel too snug with the insoles in and nothing else :(

Ok so i got the ASO, but i find it feels very weird and the straps at the bottom feel like a spring board(mabye this is bc i made them too tight?) Also, it looks like it is sort of stretching out my shoes on the sides. And I dont know what part of the brace, but something is rubbing up against my leg and poking it and it hurts, but i assume that wearing higher socks with resolve that problem(the ones i am wearing now are only half an inch higher than the back of the shoe)

I'm not sure about the straps, my braces only have laces. The stretching of the shoe is going to happen because you are putting more materials inside of the shoe and as for the rubbing, wear higher crew socks and eventually they will break in and you should not feel anything.

Did you end up buying one or two ASO's?

Well, i eventually ended up returning it and just using athletic tape :) The brace just casued too much problems and was a hassle

Thats what I've done too. I haven't found a brace that is comfortable enough to wear consistently. I just use athletic tape and an ace bandage.
