unique code 232205 head 95 length 27.25 pattern 18x20 stiffness 70ra 310gm 320 mm.
so first off...i used the birthday code, got it for $167 and i started serving with it after teaching today...wow. the stiffness was what i expected. unlike most extended racquets the stick felt like a one piece stick and not bending at the neck. great solid feel on the serve. i'm 6'1 but i like extended racquets. i have a one handed backhand, semi-western forehand.
then i grabbed the ball machine...forehands were on the mark. at first i was in love. balls where i went, then my old age (23) set in. i felt myself getting tired. i usually add 9 grams of lead tape to my usual racquets. i thought this wouldn't happen. i really need to hit the gym lol. the 27.25 length didn't hurt my backhand at all and every swing felt solid and never felt like the head was getting ahead of my swing. racquet is white btw...very slick looking.
with the grip i chose the default. even though i have always preferred wilson grips and hated head grips i love the default grip on the vantage. very nice, and similiar to wilson but with some length on the stringbed side of the grip. volleys were accurate, yet you must concentrate. it was like volleying with a surge when you do get a nice snap in your wrist and proper concentration. unlike the surge...if you stab at the ball....it's not going to pop off. it will hit the racquet and die. not going to carve alot of volleys here however it does allow for some better angles.
extras extras...for 167 you can buy a regular racquet. i don't know why for that price more people don't try this company. i opted for the full-protection bag which is not a regular racquet bag or a backpack (which are both options) the full protection is basically a giant soft bag that protects your racuqet inside a multi racquet bag. very soft and nice much like the bag that comes with oakley sunglasses. stick came wrapped and nicely packaged. my name is on the inside of the throat. i had not known this was an option. if they let you pick what goes on the stick that would be even sweeter. it's not a graphic on the stick but rather a sticker on the inside with a rundown of your specs.
overall, the stick plays like what i was looking for. i didn't feel like it really changed my game, but more like enhanced the game that i already i have. it's how i expected to play. too many racquets improve one part of my game and forsake the rest. basically what i'm saying is if your the type that pays retail for racquets...you should give this a try. really nothing to lose. i'm particularly happy.
btw. my particular setup is great for flat hitters. my forehand has a bit too much spin i think for this stick. my backhand is fantastic with it though. serves have become more effortless and have more kick, perhaps cuz of the new length and better angles. of all the sticks i had this thing...
serves like... head prestige xl with more speed
backhand like... ncode sixone 18x20
forehand like... wilson rok 98/head liquidmetal prestige
volley like... wilson rok 93
looks and feels like no other. this is my stick, for me. very snobbish i know. i don't care. i feel like a player who has met the girl he might marry. perhaps all the chasing is over...but oh well. i'll be happy
