The Maxply McEnroe is constructed with the multiple layers (or plys) of carbon fibre which allows John to place the ball exactly where he wants.

A retro cosmetics that goes back to his 1981 Dunlop Maxply, and a premium leather grip designed accordingly to Mr. McEnroe's exact standards now made available to his fans around the world.

Thanks for the specs. It's been talked about quite a bit here over the past several months. I've also heard it's nothing more than a repainted 300G, though. Of course, I could be completely wrong. BTW. aren't ALL graphite racquets made with "multiple layers (or plys) of carbon fibre?

IMO, the weight of 320g with even balance (with higher swing weight?) seems significantly different from that of 300G or MFil 300, although head size, beam width and string pattern are almost same. If it is a painted 300G just with leather grip, the balance should be more head light.

Well, I guess it's possible for them to use the same mold and just change the weight and balance a bit.

Dunlop has said on their website before that the 300g is "even balanced", even though we know better. Actually, they might have said the same thing about the 200g. Dunlop's full of crap. I highly doubt this new racquet will be even balanced.

It depends on your view of even... Only 1 point on a frame is actually even. Most manufactures set a window around the balance point. Somthing like + or - 15mm... Any frame falling inside this window is deemed "even Balance". Not quite as ideal as an actual measurement.

I think the only true mac's stick is the max200g. The volkl C10 with its odd shape grip and high power is just not right for volley. I have little hope for this one. max200g-relevation200g-mv200g-hm200g, things got a little worse a long the way. This new stick looks nice. But if I want a display, I buy the real thing, a real wood maxply and hung it on the wall! Joe have some nice ones on promotion on his website.

I'm still amazed Dunlop isn't making a 100 sq inch frame, given the popularity of that headsize right now...why no M-fil 400 ?

RDC Flex on this stick is reported to be 67...would have thought with Mac's name it would be flexier. Swingweight is also a surprising 333. The USRSA power formula has it rated as 2186.

I believe it has already hit some of the brick and mortar stores. You can find it online at a few sites if you look around on pre-sale. Scheduled to arrive 2/23 - 2/25 depending on where you find it.

Thanks man!

i tried this racquet out the other day and it felt very good. and it does feel like it is even balance. it had more power than i was expecting.I'm still amazed Dunlop isn't making a 100 sq inch frame, given the popularity of that headsize right now...why no M-fil 400 ? I believe the reason why they dont have a m-fil 400 is because they broke to easily. i had two break in about two months after i got them, and i dont throw my racquet.

I know that McEnroe used the Dunlop 200 maxply when he was an active tour player. Along w/ Graff i belive. However, I'm pretty sure I've seen advertisements for Volkl saying that McEnroe used their racquets. I remember an ad going, "We called mac, we talked, and we made the racquet." Is he endorsing two racquet companies or is Dunlop just producing a 200g with a wink to us as we know who used to play with it?

McEnroe was under contract with Volkl up until about a year and a half ago when he re-signed with Dunlop to produce a "new" Dunlop which we see now as the new Maxply McEnroe.

McEnroe was under contract with Dunlop from 1981 until the end of his active career on the regular men's tour, around 1993. He started with a wood Dunlop Maxply (modified and stiffened, I believe). Then to a custom wood racquet in 1982 which was sold as the Maxply McEnroe. This is the racquet that Dunlop is now trying to emulate with the cosmetics of the new 2005 Maxply McEnroe. In 1983, McEnroe switched to a graphite racquet for the first time, the Max 200G (after hitting with his brother Patrick's, believe it or not). He used the Max 200G all the way until the end of his ATP career.

When he joined the senior's tour, he looked for another racuqet to use since Dunlop had ceased production of the Max 200G several years earlier. He had a hard time finding anything similar to the Max 200G (as I had for a long, long time). He finally settled on the Volkl C-10 Pro, and used it for several years on the senior tour. From there, he went with a couple of other Volkls or paintjobs thereof, like the Quantum 10 and Tour 10MP, and perhaps some others.

Also, prior to his first Dunlop contract with Dunlop in 1981, he used a Wilson Jack Kramer Pro Staff wood racquet from when he first emerged on the pro tour in 1977. However, as a junior he did use the Dunlop Maxply Fort, so I guess going back to Dunlop is sort of like going home for him. Starting and ending his long tennis career with a familiar brand. Like they say, "Life goes in a circle".

I can see that this new stick resemble the C10. But where the link between max200g and C10? C10 has the power almost that of a tweeter

Tennis warehouse's ad in the most recent Tennis Magazine had the Maxply in it, but it's nowhere to be found on t-w.com. When will it come out?
