Hey im somewhat new to tennis. Havent actually physically played it before. but ive played badminton a few times in school. But ive watched tennis heavily the past year and reading up as much material as I can is the past two weeks. and watching Wimbledon. Well im turning 16 in 3 months and want to join my schools tennis team as a sophomore. Most of my friends are on there but they mainly play for fun and are school isnt all that great just a 60% win precentege or so. Im confident I will make tryouts but I want to be able to advance my game and be the best player that I can. Im very determined to, tryouts are in early January. I'm 5,6 and 117 pounds and Ive been doing stamina conditioning and working on strength.

^ I've ordered this and got the correct grip size by measuring. As soon as I get it on the 8th my schools tennis team captain my bestfriend me and him are gonna hit the court with the basics. Hes mainly just a good athlete not technique or anything.

So im looking for like for a comprehensive rules or some good starting videos or tips.

Best tip: grab your racquet and head to your nearest court with your friends

Try actually playing and see if you even enjoy it before spending any more money on it

hello! welcome to the game.

things that will save you a lot of time:

hit the ball -> get the ball in

be able to hit the ball where you want (accuracy) -> learn how to hit with power

if you are messing up it is most likely your footwork (the way you set yourself up to hit the ball) rather than your equipment.

from my personal experience i love this game but spent too much time looking at racquets/strings. the fundamentals should be the priority. the racquet you have chosen is good for a beginner and can be modified with weight later because of the trap door in the buttcap if you think the racquet is too light.

fuzzyyellowballs.com is my go to reference site for beginners. great site with lots of instructional videos.

Absolutely. I've probably spent too much time in shopping/consumerism.

The allure of the new, shiny toy is exploited pretty well by the tennis companies, which is why they update their lines all the time to create a false sense of novelty and 'newness.'

They're not to blame however. Have fun, don't focus too much on equipment, and remember: don't overtrain!

how in the world did i miss this one XD! exactly. follow the motto "only perfect practice makes perfect"

it's very easy to get injured by playing too much since this is a repetitive action sport, especially if you are just starting out and your muscles haven't gotten used to it. and be prepared for blisters on your hand and/or feet right in the beginning.

Join a camp at a tennis facility near you. City's, Parks, Tennis clubs, etc will have camps. You need to do it ASAP (If you need a racquet, most camps will have something you can use). The camps are always in the summer which means right now!
