No Mandlikovers over here?

Being a new user of this apparently exciting tennis forum, I feel a bit upset I didn´t find a thread on one of the most talented players I have personally watched, Hana Mandlikova.

Maybe few posters here have seen her play, and most importantly, play on those rare ocasions that Godgiven talent czech player living in a very harsh Cold War era was going through " an on day" or a five minutes streak.

So if any Mandlikover remains here and wants to share that colection of unforgetable memories and ( too many) very forgetable let me downs, you are more than welcome

Mandlikova was indeed very talented, however she was also highly inconsistent and streaky. If she could have played everyday like she played to win the 1985 US Open she would have won many more majors.

Hana was - well- Hana! A shotmaking genius, with fluid strokes, fluid footspeed and more pure talent than any three other players combined. Unfortunately her mental game blossomed relatively late in her career, and injuries took a toll on her major accomplishments. She could make my jaw drop. Sometimes from her brilliance, sometimes from her shot selection.

I remember a sequence at the US Open 85 against Navratilova:

Martina served a wide angled serve to the ad, Hana repplied with a knocking flat BH,Navratilova volleyed it tightly...and Mandlikova was at the net to knock the point off¡¡¡.I mean, does anybody in the 80´s simply dare to imagine somebody coming to the net after returning an angled serve to the ad from Navratilova?
That was Hana to me

Being a fan of her was to be allowed by your heart doctor, otherwise, you better not.

right, other times. The last classy player I can recall of is Martina Hingis.
IMHO, the last three geniuses of female tennis, in the true sense of the word, i mean variety of shots, tactics, finesse, etc., were Martinita Hingis, Justine Henin and Amélie Mauresmo. Nowadays there's very few interesting players.
