For what it’s worth, I’ve played 172 singles matches against one guy since 2012 - greater rivalry by Evert’s definition.Hey, the greatest tennis rivalry of all time is between me and another person at my club. Over the years we've played over 127 matches.....
Surely that must count.

Greatest Olympian in tennis?
I agree with you. I just wanted to tell that its not necessary to have a discussion at all every time a male athlete says something about greatness... or vice versa. She is not right because greatness of rivalries is not measured in number of matches. I have played 100+ matches against my buddy on Sundays in our local club yet nobody cares. Whether these hypersensitive people today like it or not, the men’s competition is the pinnacle in almost each and every sports. I have nothing but respect for the women’s achievements same as I have respect for the best youth players in the world or best wheelchair players. All of them are putting tremendous effort in it and deserve every praise but it lies within the human nature that in terms of watching sports you want to watch the best of the best and those are the men (same reason why more people watch Champions league than second French division).
Also... its a fact that wta is not as interesting as mens tennis. simply a fact just like basketball and wnba. Chris Evert is simply being a sensitive feminist if you ask meI can't see the point Chris Evert is making. Everyone knows Djokovic was talking about men's tennis. There isn't a combined body for tennis the WTA & ATP are completely separate.
the problem with that is that it would be the same thing as mens sports if im terribly honest. i cant name a sport where woman are superior in performance to men. god intended it to be this way, and it will stay this way foreverThe obvious thing to do in the modern progressive era is to abandon the concept of men’s and women’s leagues, just have one competitive body and the best players rise to the top no?
Just pointing out that this is a reply to Oct. 21, 2020. Does anyone even look at dates before resuming food fights? If you want to be sooo precise. 79 of those matches were 2 of 3 sets. They played one that was actually a 3 of five set at the Virginia Slims Championships in 1984 except Martina won it 6–3, 7–5, 6–1 I am an Evert Nerd.
Is there any evidence that Djok was anything but bemused by her comment?
I know for a fact that when Chris Evert refers to Serena as the greatest player of all time she doesn't include men's tennis.Also... its a fact that wta is not as interesting as mens tennis. simply a fact just like basketball and wnba. Chris Evert is simply being a sensitive feminist if you ask me
You are clearly right. Even if she had a point one can read between the lines and understand that he of course meant men’s tennis. It is unbelievably annoying always having to think about each and every word to ensure you don’t offend anyone. Chris does know this very well though, all this stuff about arguing about each and every word and being offended about everything is just a good opportunity for attention seeking “has beens” to become relevant again.I agree with you. I just wanted to tell that its not necessary to have a discussion at all every time a male athlete says something about greatness... or vice versa.
Some are trying to compare apples with pears... and then arguing why apples are more popular or more profitable than pears.

[/QUOTE No I did not look at the date. Just to be clear here. The reason I ask the question is to see if there ever was a reason to throw anything. If there is no evidence that Novak was offended, frustrated or even mildly irritated by the post why is anyone else? This happens so often that fanboys get outraged and make melodrama out of the minutest, most petty things when these players could care less and may never have given something a second thought. I think asking whether he minded the correction, is a pretty good way to suggest perspective was lost here, and it wasn't really lost by him or or Evert.
