NTRP season over, and other musings

I'm looking at the USTA schedule, and I don't think we have any more leagues that will count toward my rating. Next up we have mixed (no thank you), then in the fall we have combo, which if course doesn't count. We have some singles leagues in the Fall, but I won't be doing those. So my rating in November is already in the books basically. This seems weird to me, unless I am missing a league or two in the fall. None of my teams have qualified for States this year, so this is pretty much it.

I just looked back on my season and the stats were surprising. I won 71% of my matches, but just 56% of my games. I am surprised the game count was so close, but I'm guessing the game W/L% is always closer than the match W/L%. It strikes me as a little odd that winning percentage doesn't play any roll whatsoever in NTRP ratings.

It is just the nature of tennis scoring that players that win or lose a lot will have winning percentages higher/lower than their games won. Consider someone that wins 6-3,6-3 all the time. That yields a 100% winning percentage but just a 67% games won percentage.

But you are right, in areas that only use the main Adult/Spring league for ratings, you can be done pretty early and the rest of your season "doesn't count".
