Actually it was intentional because he actually said it. It's not as though he has Tourette's syndrome and has no control over the words that come from his mouth. He has a very poor filter. I'm sure a lot of players think a whole lot crap but have enough control to keep it in their heads. What you seem to downplay or do not get is that Kyrios's biggest crime is that he threw one his best friends and young woman's private matter (who even knows if it's true) out for the world to hear. And he used the woman's sexuality as a commodity just for spite. It was all so childish. He deserves a fine, he deserves a suspension (a few months, maybe) and he deserves the ridicule. He needs to tell his brother to shut the hell up and back away from the computer. Kyrios is an a s s hat but is not beyond redemption. He absolutely deserves another chance. I hope that he learns from this.
Well his family's behavior speaks to the poor environment he was raised in. That is in no way an excuse but it verifies to me that this probably isn't an act...he's just a first-class dbag.
These objections are of course silly - various red-herrings and strawmen.
It makes no difference if it's "true". That isn't the issue whatsoever - failure to understand seems to be one of the major issues in this thread.
Freedom of speech also is not at issue - Krygios WAS free to say it - now he must accept the consequences. It's probably a bit unfortunate he didn't have more responsible parents - or in lieu of that, grew up in the team environment of other sports vs. the sheltered junior tennis bubble superstar he experienced. For example in junior hockey, even if no official action were taken, there would be a socialization process - he would have received quite a few punches until he learned one way or another that saying such things carry consequences. Most people encounter this somewhere and I'm sure for example, most on this forum have. The fact is, Krygios did it because he believes there will be no significant consequences - he is counting on other people being mature enough to absorb his infantile behavior - I will GUARANTEE YOU, put Krygios in say....a biker bar...would he be saying that about a biker's girlfriend? LOL. No?? What happened to the bad-boy telling it like it is? He'd be quiet as a church mouse hiding in the corner.....he's actually COUNTING on this being public to help protect him....run the mouth in front of everyone - it's actually far safer for him. Everyone knows about it, everyone will be watching Wawrinka, if he does anything he gets drawn in, now he's a bad guy too - and oh, see, Krygios was right to insult such a violent guy..... people won't even focus on the original insult, just the fight after....
It is time for the spoiled boy to start learning a few lessons. This behavior will gain him a few immature fans in the teen-rebellion mindset, but it's an embarrassment to the sport, to mature fans, and to the other players. The tour has every right to suspend him, and I think it would probably be good for him and his future success in life, were they to do so now.
