When pros switch to different tennis equipment companies, what happens to the old stuff?
Does it go back, or do they give it away to friends and family?

Yes.. The more likely ones are those..
With racquets maybe they keep some and give the others back to the sponsor, then the sponsor stores those racquets and maybe give them to junior players that are sponsored by that brand.

My guess is that they can keep the stuff and just store it somewhere, or give it to friends.
I know Roger has a room in his house just for his equipment stuff.

Well I doubt companies keep tabs on how much stuff is used by their sponsored players. I'm guessing that part of the sponsor contracts with the players is that the stuff is given as gifts to the player. So in essence you have players who simply have stuff in their possession. What do they do with them? It probably depends upon the individual player. Some might give them to charity for charity fund raising. Some might give them away to those they know. Some might use them as rags to check their oil. Your guess is as good as mine.

i'd say they end of in a closet in their house somwhere, left with the customizer, or given to friends. I doubt companies actually ask for them to be returned.

Check out the Bryans Twitter Page (they have a video) - they have truckloads of Adidas gear some unopened that they are giving to charity

it depends from the kind of player.
If u are fed no problem, but if u are like 150 , u got 5/6 stiks, 4 pair of shoes and 10 shirts, so at the end of the year u have nothing to waste I tell u!

Many donate the gear to charitable causes. Things like shoes and clothing are easy enough to get rid of. Racquets are little different. One of the former female touring pros that lives here in Atlanta had something of a garage sale as someone mentioned.

They should hold a charity fundraiser with the items going to the highest bidder. I'm sure alot of people would pay a nice price for the actual shirt Roger wore in the U.S.O.

Give it away? Charity? Hang on to it, for when friends come over to play? Def great for charity auctions. If they are going to donate for an auction, sign an old shirt or racket and send it on its way.

Bob bryan said they give their old stuff (clothes, shoes, hats, racquets) to charities, friends and family.

Most keep them in storage! I know that Jimmy Connors has many items in storage and used them up!

I think many former players keep their sponsorship items for the memory of it and also because they like to used the items. Why give away your tools of the trade? I know if I got 44 rackets; I would not give out any away?
