Hey everyone

I got to hit with a PC600 (93 in, 18x20 pattern), and i couldnt get over how awesome the feel was, and how great it was too serve with. But i didnt get a chance to hit too many groundstrokes with it. But i really liked the feel of it. It's a feel that i havent ever gotten using the bigger headed rackets, mostly from 98-100 inches (and an n6.1 95).

It got me thinking though... when you play with a small racket, the response is more even throughout the frame, compared to a bigger racket where there can be many different feels/amounts of power from different parts of the stringbed (for ex. dead spots). If this is true, then i'd definitely prefer the first of those 2 rackets, the smaller headed one. But it was im thinking true?

And if it is, would you say then that a 98 inch racket compared to a 93 or 90 actually has the same amount of sweetspot, just that it (the larger one) has a more uneven sweetspot? OR would you say that the smaller frame has a more consistent response, but a smaller sweetspot?

any views/experiences are appreciated, im just wondering

*btw i misspelled question... sorry

i have the same experience too..
i used to use OS frames, switched to MP, and latter switched to mid, and never look back....
the feel of mid is unbelievable.....
the mid i had is 16x19, never try the 18x20 in mid. suppose it has stiffer string-bed ?

Agreed. Most people discount the midsize because those types of raquets does not generate enough power or spin. For me, it's all about the uniformity and feel as a whole -- which I cannot get in a Midplus or Oversize raquet. Anything bigger than a 90in raquet and I tend to spray the balls and mishit volleys. Even if I do have to work harder, the 90 or 85 consistently gives me complete and connected feel to the raquet.

Seems like the prestiges are pretty popular, they are all 18*20. ;)

Seems to me that a mid with an 18x20 pattern just needs to be a little softer to work well. Otherwise the strings are too hard to interact with the ball.

My 90-93 sq in frames have given me the impression that larger heads just have more area for an off-center hit (to a degree). The Volkl C-10 is a good example - when I catch the ball a little more toward the top of the stringbed, the result is a dead shot that barely clears the net. Very strange when it happens at the net.

As goofy as some midplus racquets have been for me, I'll probably reach for ones with denser stringbeds in the future. The even response of the mids has really won me over.

Well said.

More uniform response and feel are significant advantages of the midsize frames to me -- as well as better stability and maneuverability (cutting through the air). And lowering the tension in an 18x20 definitely works.

In terms of mishits and missing the sweetspot, 93s and 90s are no problem for me. I really have to concentrate more when I play with the PS 85, however. (Yikes! But it feels soo good!)
