RF97 Auto: removing weight from handle possible?

Is it possible to remove some weight from the handle of the RF97 Auto?

When I open up the buttcap, I see some hard foam inside the handle. Is there lead or some other weight there as well? Anyone ever tried doing this?

Does the foam serve any purpose regarding structural integrity of the handle? Can I scoop some of it out?

There are metal plates glued to the hairpin. Then the handle was foamed. With a magnet, you can locate these platelets.
Use a fine saw to carefully cut down to the hairpin and remove these parts along with the metal plates.
You can fill the gap with parts from Head grips or glue them into the gap.
Maybe you can save about 10g - but have the suspicion that this will not make you happy.

You could sand the grip or using chisels to take out the foam handle. Then using Head pallet to replace the grip, there will be some metal plates inside the foam. But after that you need to increase the weight and balance to your liking.

I don't quite understand the photos. Did you cut out the rectangular section? Or was it already there in the handle under the leather grip?
I used the magnet to determine the section where the iron plate is hidden under the foam resin.
Then I made a careful cut on the left and right and lifted the part off. In the background you can see the removed part.
By the way, these are pictures of a Yonex handle - but is similar with Wilson.

I ended up removing the leather grip from my RF97A and replacing it with the synthetic grip that came with my Blade Pro (which I had changed to a Fairway leather grip).

I like the balance much more now. Was too headlight for me before and I didn't want to add more weight to the head bc it already weighed 340grams unstrung
