Servi Grip

For slice, topspin, and kick serves i use a continental grip. But for flat serves i use an in between grip of continental and eastern forehand grip. is that ok?

It's OK at a low level.
Anything better, all serves with the same continental with a slight favor towards eastern backhand.
Read all the other service posts to see why I say this.

Try to gradually shift that grip to completely continental. It might feel weird. When I first picked up a racquet, it was only natural for me to serve with an eastern forehand grip, but when I was told that the proper grip was the continental, I was completely dumbfounded. I wondered "How the heck do you hit a serve like this?" , but over time it felt a little more natural and practical. Now, it only makes sense to me to hit flat serves with continental. Once you get that down, you'll find that it's much easier to control and place the ball in the service box.

Yes, and for the next level up, you'll discover the benefits of shifting your continental SLIGHTLY towards the eastern backhand side.
Huge rewards, no downside, and you only have to practice just a few days to transition.

I know what you mean about continental, but switching it anymore towards an eastern backhand just feels awkward :-?

Remember when you first switched service grip from some forehand to the Continental?
That felt awkward.
Guess what, it is awkward. But it works better. So with practice, it becomes normal.
Continental.... that's the easy way of saying your serve grip sucks and you have to change it, but the guy telling you this doesn't understand the way the professionals hold the racket, so they say "continental".
So after 2 years of steady tennis, you hit continental.
Now you gotta change again to more eastern backhand side of continental for the next level.
Once again, look at the pros line up their serves. Their rackets do not align with their forearms! They look like they're ready to hit an Eastern backhand, almost. Almost.
It's called a strong boxed service ready position. A weak one would be true continental and a weaker one eastern forehand.
