I guess it would mainly depend on how much dampening you would want. For instance, the Wilson Smiley face dampeners really don't give total dampening. They're also a bit heavier than, say, the Babolat Cosmic dampener, which soaks up the vibration sounds just as well as a rubber band. Personally, I tend to stay away from Wilson, Prince and Yonex dampeners because they're all just too heavy and modify the swingweight.

I wouldn't worry about a 3 gram block of rubber modifying your swingweight. Ultimately you have to try a bunch of different absorbers and see what you like. Don't listen to the attempts of others to rank how much one dampner damps verses another. Try a solid dampner like wilson, a donut style dampner like the sampras and a rubber band. See what you like.

I always post the same two pictures in these threads - because the Babolat Vibra kill is the best there is. Won't 2ver come off and dampens the vibrations like no other dampener:

Good advice. I would also recommend trying a "worm" style dampener...they tend to dampen more as they are in contact with more strings. Gamma Shock Buster is a good place to start (as long as you don't break it). I personally like the smaller damps the best. Sampras O is my favorite.

I would recommend the Gamma ShockBuster II. It has a great dampening, but if you want a little bit of a touch and feel game, you maybe should try the Babolat RVS or a rubberband.

Wrong. Weight does matter. Why go for a heavier dampener when a lighter one gives the same exact dampening effect? http://www.racquetresearch.com/sevencri.htm#The%20Effect%20of%20String%20Damping%20Gadgets%A0

I'm sure it would matter plenty if it weighed 10 grams, but I wouldn't make a decision over 3 grams in the middle of the racquet.

It's subjective. Not sure why you're saying it isn't. Try adding 4-6 grams of lead tape to the bottom hoop of your frame at 6 o'clock. It matters if you're near your swingweight limit, but not as much if you're using a granny stick, or a light tweener frame.

I currently use the rubber band and I think it works pretty well. It's also the cheapest, rubbber bands are pretty cheap ya know.:)

My wife uses one of those and "swears" by them, too. Rubber bands are the thrifty choice, though.

Try everything out. And get what fits you. I would have to agree that babolat does coem up with the best shockers though.

I own the clear and black Babolat Vibrakill, and they feel as though they weigh at least 8 grams each, especially with all those mini ball bearings inside, LOL.

I just use the Head one that came with.

Once I get a feel for the Liquid Metal Radical, I will decide what I do, if I like, or if I want to go back to Wilson kfactors or the Prince o3's.

Then I will buy dampners, etc. I will probably buy the Babolat.
