Shoes for a heavy weight!

Hi All, I currently play tennis 2- 4 hs a week and shoes don't last or they kill my feet. I weight 120KG (264LB), play on clay and matches are intense, so lot of run, changes of direction, need for traction and to slide on clay.

Comfortable shoes like the ASICS last about 4 months, same as Nike.. and I don't play 2 hs everyday to be buying a pair of shoes every 4 months they start breaking on the vamp. On the other hand shoes like the Barricade can last about 8 months, but they kill my feet on toes and heel..

Last time I bough a pair of babolat propulse and after 4 months, the outsole on the heel area started feeling like hard wood, no cushioning at all..

So, which shoes would you suggest met, for lasting and comfort?

thanks!

Nike Lunar Ballistecs, if you haven't tried them, but instead you've tried only Vapors and similar?

Also replace the stock insoles with Dr Scholl's active insoles.

New Balance 996 v3. I weigh more than you do and this my go to shoe of choice. I developed plantar fasciitis wearing some of my other shoes in the rotation and have since added Superfeet Blues, but had no issues with the stock insole prior. The 996 v3's have been the best shoes in the rotation during the recovery process. They have an All court sole and a clay sole option if that is what you playing on as well as the multiple widths to choose from.

Barricades all day..oops

They do require break in. I found that I order a half size up and that seemed to help for some of the older models barricade. 2015 on have been great

There is one big problem with LB and heavyweights: It's narrow.

After my last surgery I gained ~15kg and it made a lot of difference. Gave me a bit of plantar fasciitis after a 3 set match.

I understand as I gained myself about 5 kgs after a 5 week injury, being now around 105kgs (still 15 less than you and I am 6'2").

I only got plantar fasciitis in Barricades, but since then I'm using Dr Scholl's active insoles in all tennis shoes (Nike Lunars on hard courts and Asics GR 6 on clay atm).

I am 125kg and really like Asics GR6 (Wide, size 11.5us) and Prince T22 (size 12us). If you're from US, you can get the 6 months guarantee.

Btw, there are Lotto Viper Ultra discount at TWE, and they are comfortable shoes

Prince T22 not available in wide. Go with the New Balance 1006.

Depending on how wide a shoe you need, it may not matter. I normally get Nikes in wide, but I am able to wear the Prince T22's without a problem. They are just made wider to begin with. I'm 225 and love these shoes.

Thanks for all the replies, I will probably go back to ASICS for comfort or maybe give a try to the T22's

Do you need wide shoes? If not, then you'll have much more options.

Based on my experience, for training and drill that needs comfortable shoes, i will choose Nike Zoom Cage 2, Asics GR 6, Prince T22, and Yonex Power Cushion Pro. My knees are happy when i use them.

Asics GR7 and Prince T22 will fit your requirement.
