Smooth poly cross for Cyclone

I'm trying to experiment different cross strings with cyclone mains to get more spin. Right now, using basic synthetic gut but I have no arm issues and want to try a smooth poly string in the cross. What are my options? I'm planning to put it in my prestige mid. Thanks.

Head Hawk 17g very low CoF -

I have used it with V-torque and Cyclone Tour.

V-torque in full bed is quite spinny already and is one of mu favourite strings, so you say the HH improves it? That would be great. How about stiffness, how does HH compare? Many thanks!

V-Torque 16g and HH are my favorite setup but I only get about 6-8 sets before snapping the V-torque. For a guy who has had issues with TE with PD frames and stiffer polys, HH in the crosses never caused me any discomfort.

I can hit with a full bed of cyclone, but personally prefer Cyclone Tour 16g and Jane been using CT for the past 2.5 years.

Wilson Revolve plays much stiffer than both CT, HH and Head Hawk Touch.

I used Revolve 16g as full bed, and hybrid in both mains and crosses in my frames and a friend's frames. Neither of of us care for Wilson Revolve, Orange, Black or White.

I have had one request for Revolve in the past year. I suggested the guy try Head Hawk Touch 17g instead and he has never used anything else since. There are much better options for people than Revolve IMO.

I, for one, much prefer Wilson Revolve to Head Hawk.

Haven't gotten around to trying out Head Hawk Touch yet, because I wasn't all that impressed with the original Hawk. I will test it out in the coming weeks.

I know other guys who don't like HH as a full
bed, but I think HH shines in hybrid setups.

I use HH as slick smooth main string for several 4.0 and 4.5 players who prefer it over Revolve, WC Silverstring, and Yonex PPT. Several of these players don't like full poly, so I hybrid HH with Prince Premier Control 15g since these guys are frequent string breakers. The 15g multi last them about 3 weeks and they seem to like the HH17g / PPC 15g setup best out of all the smooth polys I have offered them.

I use HH as a cross with Wilson Gut or Pacific Tough Gut. It seems to be slicker than HH Touch, although HH Touch is softer.

I experimented with crosses for 16 & 17g Cyclone including Hawk, YPTP, Proline II and Revolve (all 17g). I didnt get any more spin out of any combo vs a full bed (which might be lack of technique by me...I use a semi western fh). The differences I perceived were in feel.

Hawk and PL2 felt crisper than the full bed and Revolve and YPTP more muted.

17 gauge Revolve is better. I like it mostly as a cross with gut mains because it's super slick and it tames the power a bit. Seems a little muted as a full bed, but I like that. I guess with cyclone it would feel pretty similar, but I'd just go full bed cyclone. As others have said, I doubt the spin potential goes up significant enough that you can tell a difference.

I think Revolve, Hawk, and Hawk Touch all get the job done as very slick smooth polys. Just personal preference on what a player likes more. Just like ordering a burger- mix up what you put on it and find what your personal favorite happens to be. [emoji6]

Same for Cyclone vs Cyclone Tour. I can use either, but prefer Cyclone Tour as a full bed.

With gut, I prefer Hawk 17g as the cross.

Same here. I use the 17g Revolve, and I find it far more comfortable than the 17g Hawk and significantly spinnier.

Both in full bed and as a cross to the gut mains or shaped polys, I prefer the Revolve. But I use very low-tension setups and change strings very frequently, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

Full bed of cyclone 16 is great for swinging out and through low to high with authority.
There is no need to ruin what it is made to do with any other cross in my opinion.
