Well, this is a unique way to prepare for a tournament.

Prior to his win Sunday in the Rakuten Japan Open final, Taylor Fritz’s girlfriend, Morgan Riddle, revealed how the American ace passed the time in quarantine last week, when he used the social media influencer as part of his strength training regimen.

In an Instagram Story recently shared by Riddle, Fritz — who previously tested positive for COVID-19 in Seoul, where he was set to compete in the Korea Open — was filmed lifting his longtime gal pal like a barbell as he used a part of a sectional to support himself.

Fritz, the No. 3 seed in Tokyo, went on to defeat pal and fellow American, Frances Tiafoe, to claim his fourth career title.

“What an insane last 10 days ….,” Fritz remarked Sunday on Twitter. “#4 LFGGGGGG.”

As of Monday, Fritz is now ranked eighth in the world.

Leading up to Fritz’s latest career victory, Riddle — who has been dating the 24-year-old athlete for more than two years — documented her adventures in Tokyo on Instagram, where she boasts nearly 100,000 followers.

Riddle became a fixture at Wimbledon over the summer, when she would ask her fans on TikTok about what outfits to wear to the tournament. For Fritz’s quarterfinal match against Rafael Nadal, Riddle looked to the Princess of Wales, Kate Middleton, for style inspiration.

“My boyfriend is playing Centre Court at Wimbledon today. It’s quarterfinals at Centre Court and is very classy. You’re going to recreate a Kate Middleton look,” Riddle said in a previous TikTok clip.

Fritz ultimately fell to Nadal, who later withdrew from Wimbledon due to injury. Fritz attempted to rebound at the U.S. Open in August but was bounced out of the competition in the first round.

Fritz said Sunday that despite a hectic few days, he “couldn’t have written” a better ending.

“It’s so crazy, and I couldn’t have written it any better. It’s exactly what I needed for the Race, for my ranking, to kind of put me in a good position for the end of the year, so it’s amazing,” Fritz said, per Tennis.com.

Happy for him, it would’ve been extremely easy to crumble after the epic disappointment of losing to not one but TWO severely injured Big 3 members, and then losing to the world #250 at the USO… but he has regained his confidence and is well deserved top 10.

Good for him.
