Yep, you read it right.
Which of the following was a match in which Roger Federer player almost perfectly, near the best of his powers, and yet found himself on the losing side??

1) Vs. Nadal, Rome 2006 final, lost 7-6 6-7 4-6 6-2 7-6 (had 2 match points in set 5 on rafa serve)
2) Vs. Safin, Australian Open 2005 Semi, lost 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7 7-9 (had 2 match points in set 4, one on serve)
3) Vs. Djokovic, US Open 2011 Semi, lost 7-6 6-4 3-6 2-6 5-7 (had 2 match points in set 5 on serve)
4) Vs. Djokovic, Tour finals 2012 final, lost 6-7 5-7 (was 4-1 up in set 1 & 5-4 40-15 on serve in set 2)
5) Vs. Gonzalez, Tour finals 2007 RR, lost 6-1 3-6 5-7

Personally, I'm sandwiched between Rome 2006 & Uso 2011, he was playing against the best player on the surface at his prime and came closest to beating energetic bunny nadal in BO5 in one, and in the other he was playing the most beastiest version of Djokovic at USO, nearly managed to beat him.

Both were chokes nevertheless, but hey, swiss maestro knows exactly what to do...

Wim 2008 final
AO 2009 final

,......
He was no way near the best of his powers in ao2009, serving was absymal at times.
In Wimbledon 2008 game wise & physically he was perfect, but his mind was somewhere else.

hence the big gap after AO 05 semi and Rome 06 final.

fed was playing well off the ground and returning wise in AO 09 final - even with poor serving
certainly better than USO 11 semi with a meh 3rd set, poor 4th set and the collapse in 5th set from MP on.

AO 2005 SF of course.
Rome 2006 F next.
In relative terms, Federer was slightly off his best in the AO match while the Rome match was his very peak; however, Federer has obviously attained a higher level on HC than clay, and in absolute terms, the AO match featured a higher level from him.

No I didn't read it right because it's missing W19

He was the better player in that Rome 2006 final. He choked on that forehand miss in match point. Federer is hands down the most talented and entertaining player to watch but he’s most prone to making an error in a big point despite being more offensive in nature.

He had literally no business to lose either of ao 09 or uso 11 matches tho
