Ward won his second round match today against Veseley in four sets, way to go! Correct me if I'm wrong but I think it'll be his first third round appearance at Wimbledon.

I believe they said that its the furthest he's gone in any slam + he is now assured a top 100 ranking which was one of his big goals. He has a winnable match next round too since Fognini got knocked out, Pospisil is beatable.

When Pospisil is playing well he's a legitimate top 25-35. Ward at his best is where he is now....not close. Should be Pospisil, but at this years Wimbledon....you never know!

Sorry Ward fans but the journey ends against Pospisil in the 3rd round!

Either way, whoever wins, this has been a great tournament for both players.

Strange comment. Ward recently beat Isner in Davis Cup. He clearly is a much better player on fast surfaces, and especially in the UK. Pospisil has also shown a tendency to choke in the slams, so I wouldn't be so sure of him. This has 5 sets written all over it.

Q. He's really been a thorn in the side of the U.S.?
SAM QUERREY: Yeah, he has (smiling).

Q. Is that aggravating?
SAM QUERREY: Yeah, it's aggravating, beats me, John, and loses to Chase Buchanan 6‑2, 6‑2 in a challenger in the middle of nowhere. The guy he steps up the big moments so you have to credit him with that.

It wasn't to be for Ward, although the match went to the bitter end. Hopefully this is the start of a little run for Ward.

I just watched a couple of 4 minutes clips of the match. Pospisil runs all over the court and hits a lot from the net.

On the other hand Ward hit from the baseline and stays there. He should play some doubles and learn to play all court tennis instead of hitting from the baseline and running from side to side.

Maybe not so mighty these days but he will always be remembered for his match against Isner in GB vs USA which put Team GB on the road to Davis Cup success for the first time in 77 years!

What happened to James Ward? He's fell completely off of the radar, I know he lost his coach Tandy who passed away recently.

Not heard any mention of injuries but his form has certainly dipped sharply since his coach died. He was ranked #89 at the time but is now ranked #585. He turned 30 in January so time is not exactly on his side to turn things around either.

Is it bad weather, it appears only doubles was played

I believe there was no play Tuesday due to the weather, unsure what's been going on today! It's been sunny where I am. There are women's matches too though so perhaps they concentrated on those today.

Loses to McDonald Mackenzie or is it MacKenzie McDonald in the first round of qualies in Nottingham. This thread could be going east across Scandinavia to a permanent home.

Just checked James Ward wiki page, I think his mother is probably responsible for updating her :D Such dedication, pretty much info about every top 100 win and even information about fevers..

Ward had recently sold his £1300 Arsenal F.C. season ticket to fund his tennis, so he had some regrets after earning £23,125 for winning his first round Wimbledon match
