TRU PRO (formerly Tier One Sports) - Firewire 17g

I haven't seen much posted on here lately of this string so I wanted to give my 2 cents.

4.5 baseliner with lots of topspin and hard kicking serves. 13' APD with 6g of lead at 3 and 9, and 3g under the cap. Stick weighs in at 12.5oz.

I normally play with Gamma Zo Verve, full bed, strung at 58lbs. I had the Firewire strung up the same before I started toying with the tension. I really like the string. Played 2 hours of doubles Saturday and 2 hours of singles yesterday. Hard to tell how good the string was during doubles, but it really played well in singles.

Very nice ball bite and good control. Verve has a tad bit better control, but less power. Nice ball pocketing and very soft on the arm. I was taking full swings from the baseline and the ball was dropping right along the baseline. I like this string with the higher tension; I feel if it were lowered, the ball would sail a little on me.

Overall good string for those who play with plenty of topspin. Cannot report anything on tension maintenance at this time, as it's only been a few days. I will report back at the end of the week.

I've actually used several of Tier One Sports strings and loved the Firewire 17g string. As far as tension maintenance goes, it has been the best 17g poly I've used if (wait for it)...strung in a full bed.

The first time I used it was in a playtest through another forum. At first, I just thought it was a really good shaped poly. As I've used other shaped poly's (I was just getting into using them at that point) I've come to realize that it was overall amazing. Gave me so many wonderful hours of play.

I liked it so much that I bought the starter pack of Tier One's line and was excited to use the Firewire in a hybrid set up. I was actually somewhat disappointed in the hybrid. Not sure if the multi I used (Head Rip Control) was not very compatible with it, but it seriously lacked a lot of what I loved about using it in a full bed (i.e. spin and durability).

I've gone through many other shaped poly's since then, including some of the others in T1's line but none have been as nice as Firewire. Just my $0.02.

I tried the Durafluxx and Tour Status in 17g as well and thought the Firewire was the best of the bunch.

I always use a full bed when I use poly. I would rate Firewire right there towards the top of what I have played with.

Within the past year, I have used Black Code, Tour Bite, Zo Verve, Sonic Pro Edge, Durafluxx, and Tour Status.

Zo Verve and Firewire are my favorite 2 poly's thus far.

I agree. I've (recently) used Tour Bite, TB Soft, Co Focus, Focus Hex, Cyclone, and 4G Rough and think Firewire is the best out of all of them. It's surprisingly soft, which I did not expect based on how tough it was to string up. Works great though.

I've played with Firewire, Durafluxx, and Tour Status, each string is different, yet one thing they have in common they are arm friendly strings, as to my favorite , they all offer different aspects, all have very good spin,,Firewire feature is spin, Tour Status its pop on the ball, Durafluxx to handle hard hit balls and control of serves..I switched from higher gauge and now use16g.
I have used Luxilon ALU Rough and ACE,Head-Rip Control, Focus Hex,Wilson NXT-frayed in less than 2 weeks and many others.

At present I like Tier One Sports Lineup of strings, including there prices, I do want to try Yonex's string duo..

Have you had a chance to try out the Yonex line yet? Curious as to your thoughts on their lineup compared to Tier One.
