Not familiar with "Fast Fashion".
"Fast" apparently refers to quickly discarding it. Not that you have to be quick to purchase it on Day One.

Definition of fast fashion
an approach to the design, creation, and marketing of clothing fashions that emphasizes making fashion trends quickly and cheaply available to consumers
The result is a new and even faster kind of fast fashion, which encourages consumers to buy heaps of items, discard them after a few wears and then come back for another batch of new outfits.

It’s obvious you’re not familiar with fast fashion. You don’t understand the concept of a limited edition drop.

Those of you who dislike Uniqlo, I get it, not everyone's cup of tea but it's a matter of taste. I like their more conservative style. Even the Nike RF gear I bought previously were the ones that tended to have one/two shades of colours. I would always end up having to wait until Nike items came on clearance and hope my size was still available...massively overpriced, given the materials and quality / durability. I think its easier to find discounted stuff in the US rather than over here so I found Nike "availability at a fair price" more challenging than uniqlo

I love the price point and I have had no issue with availability in the UK of the grand slam items.

However....range of items is a big issue for me. Uniqlo are a giant company and open to whatever strategy they want to but if they could add the following, would be amazing.
  1. All the design / colour variants from the year rather than only sell the grand slam designs
  2. Sell the jackets / headbands / any other accessories
  3. Have a dedicated tennis/sports section on their website (they kinda do have this but it changes so frequently and moves around so hard to find and pin down)

I thought that I read somewhere that the actual outfit that Fed wears is different from the one you can purchase online (different materials). Any truth to it?

I think so. If you look at his pictures at the Australian Open, his short looks different. Also his shirt was slightly different to what they sold for retail.

Searching for "Mens tennis shirt" on Uniqlo returns nothing. Where is the selection? Where is the availability?? Pathetic!
Compare and contrast to the several different Fila shirts offered on TW site.

I’m tired of hearing all the complaints for Uniqlo sports clothing, not even for me being a manager there, even before that I would buy some of their sports clothes and it was good quality for great price. @Raul_SJ you put that picture of them having “no selection” but you didn’t click on the items itself. They give a way more variety of color variations to all their pieces of clothings unlike filas 3 colors on that line. So get your facts straight before making a comment!

Once again, we are interested in tennis shirts. When searching "men's tennis shirt" it returns what was posted above.

A Federer shirt and Nishikori shirt. And even that measly selection are available only in XXXL fatty size or XXXS midget size...So essentially nothing.

There are "sports utility shirt" like this with various color lines but those are not real tennis shirts.

Tennis Wearhouse Fila gives us a selection of 10 lovely Fila shirts. All available immediately for purchase. Available in normal human sizes.

Uniqlo FAIL!

Where is this great selection of colors in tennis shirts that you are blabbering about?

Those are tennis shirts... Fed and Kei wear those models to practice and Dan Evans wears those during matches. But I guess those are not good enough for you. If you want logos then either buy slam items when they release (dirty cheap) or look for PE stuff.

Not excited by those Uniqlo "practice" shirts...
Even Dan Evans himself says those Uniqlo practice shirts are not good quality.
:(

That’s right. Great Britain’s third highest ranked player and he’s shopping for and purchasing his own tennis clothes before Grand Slam events.
Here’s what Evans had to say about the experience of self-sponsorship after he defeated Cilic in round two on Wednesday.
Q. What is the position with your kit? It's not all color coordinated.
DAN EVANS: Is it not? Cheers, Mike. I'm not too sure you're coordinated. Jeez.
Q. Some would say.
DAN EVANS: I'm just out of contract with Nike. They didn't offer me another contract. I just went to the store and bought a load of clothes the other day, plain clothes.
Q. Here?
DAN EVANS: Yeah.
Q. Which shop was that?
DAN EVANS: It's Uniqlo. 19.99, the shirts are.
Q. How many did you buy in terms of shirts?
DAN EVANS: I think about 18 shirts, something like that. I went back this morning to buy some more, so... They're not the best quality. To sweat in and wash them....

Can't say I've tried those dry-ex items but I have tried the Federer/Nishikori items and no issues with quality to be honest. Uniqlo isn't a sportswear or tennis apparel company so I wouldn't expect them to carry a huge sports line like any other high street clothes brand. Yes, I would like more variety but the simplicity and quality at an amazing price point is more important to me so I buy their stuff...

Yes, I want to buy the Fed or Nishikori kit to add to my Fila outfits... Sort of mix it up on some days with a more minimalist and simple look.

It is fine if Uniqlo chooses not to carry a wide tennis line like Fila, but at the very least, it should carry Fed/Nishikori outfits... I know several players that are interested but say they can't get it.

And yet he's still wearing them to this day. Is he a masochist or did he start to notice the difference in durability and quality later on? And it's not like he can't afford other brands since he's been playing in lululemon shorts recently.

Then you picked the wrong brand. Uniqlo RF, NK, ND lines are not "another sportswear brands" that you just pick when buying outfits. You buy them as limited items, not with a mindset "might as well get this one" and their price point reflects that, because you can pick the whole line spending less than what other brands ask just for a jacket.

All I know is that Evans is on record at the 2017 AO saying that the Uniqlo practice shirts he had just purchased for the Slam were "not of the best quality"... Does Evans have a sponsor now? Uniqlo?

The usual pricing strategy for a "limited edition" offering is to price it much higher along with a limited production run... In this case Uniqlo prices it very low but do not produce much of it.

How odd!.

Well said. I read some people on here saying the quality is great, I am scratching my head. FED and Nike was the dream team. Real shame, now he has Uniqlo copying nike material in shorts, socks etc. There is a picture of FED practicing in summer of 2018 after Wimbledon, was wearing NIKE socks under the Uniqlo!
Nike really declined the last couple of years. I mean they used to be really good with Fed but they gave him some trash outfits l.

Yea you’re just crying that it doesn’t have the Uniqlo logo on it that you all complain about, but those are their tennis shirts and they are of good enough quality to play in so nice try guy.

They only produce the lines 4 times a year. They have made more product available with each release. The us open gear and aussie gear was available for WEEKS after the events were over. They don't restock them once they sell out, so that is something consumers should plan for. If you go looking for the aussie open gear in May you probably won't find it.

The dry-ex stuff is all fine quality. For $20 a shirt I don't think you can beat it.

This is definitely true in Australia. The Federer gear was plentiful during The Australia Open and sat online for months after the event finished. Even as recently as this month there will still some of the ROGER baseball caps sitting on clearance on the UNIQLO site.

I think it is the tennis hat, not baseball cap

This hat was also on sale on Uniqlo web site a few months for $9.90. I purchased 20 hats so that my son could give to his school teachers as gifts. Just about every non-tennis people love Roger Federer.

Nah, that's very common strategy nowadays. Just look at the supreme or any nike shoe release (like ben and jerry dunks few days ago). Keep the supply lower than the demand and you'll make sure that it will stay high for all future releases.

Oh yes, sorry, tennis hat, not baseball.

That's the style I was thinking of. In australia, the purple one is actually still available (just checked).

All your son's teachers will look the part on the tennis court now, as long as they also have Roger's playing style.
