Urgent issue: posts don't show up when submitted

@diredesire could you please see what is wrong. When we submit a post, it does not show up on the page. But that post has been inserted into the database. Thus, a lot of people are making double or triple posts. Is there some other process on the server that has died ? I cannot imagine a change to the code made just recently.

This may also be true of thread creation since one thread was created two times today.

Thanks.

Could just be slow. I would hit refresh after a post just to make sure. That way, duplicates aren't created.

edit - server is slow due to number of users. Recommend patience and I think the mods are going to have to clean threads for duplicate posts and perhaps remove duplicate threads.

Yes, there's definitely something wrong with the forum. It started sometime last night when after clicking on "Post Reply" after writing a post, nothing happens. This is the cause for all the duplicate posts recently as people keep clicking on "Post Reply" trying to get it to work.

Number of members and guest have exceeded 1000 only a few times IIRC. That's when this issue appears. Too much interest in Wimbledon now? Just wait for US Open.

I don't think that's the cause because I was posting late last night at around 1am PST (4am EST) when very few people were on the board and I experienced the same problem.

It does not have anything to do with a high number of users as this has been happening even long before the final, at non-peak hours. Other functions like refresh and alerts and likes are working just fine.

Probably needs a server side reboot when TW Staff gets in tomorrow.

The server does reboot everyday at 2:46pm IST. Or at least the main process restarts at that time. But yes, a server reboot would help. Probably one process has died out.
