After playing, my socks are generally soaked, and my shoes (depending on the temperature) are at least damp. Makes sense to get the shoes off and let your feet breathe.
If I don't have to walk too much, and it's hot, I love the Adidas slide-style sandals (much more comfortable than flip flops). If you want to protect your feet, the Crocs are great, but they do look a bit silly. What I like best about both is that they don't absorb sweat and stink. The Crocs in particular can be washed quickly with regular dish soap and get literally squeaky clean.
I recently played in a tourney and had a brunch with the in-laws directly afterward, so I had to shower at the club hosting the tournament. Wore the Crocs right into the shower as "shower sandals" to prevent athlete's foot, and even kept them on for brunch (it was pretty informal, and at an in-law's house). Got to like that kind of versatility. According to the wikipedia page, Crocs were originally developed as spa shoes, which I presume to be essentially the same thing as "shower sandals". Anyway, if you are already looking for something to keep in the bag to change into, having something that can do "double duty" if you need to catch a shower at some point is an added plus.
